Hi,
I just was browsing penguin magic when I seen the item "Wheel of Mind". This "wheel" is supposed to be: http://www.penguinmagic.com/product.php?ID=707 ---------- The innocent looking, wheel-of-fortune-like board, enables mental effects that will surprise not only your audience, but also you, the mentalist. The Wheel of Mind is an unusual innovation, unlike anything currently present in the world of magic and mentalism. As such, it offers limitless surprising possibilities. This prop will surely bump your mentalism performance up a few notches" ---------- Well, if that thing can be called an innovation, then I will be ***** if I don't just lose a lot of respect for my fellows mentalists. Now, I am new to magic, but this "Wheel" is based on an effect I knew of since I was like 7-8 years old. I even used to perform this trick to my friend, and only the less intelligent wouldn't figure it out. I mean, if you can substract a number from itself and do the opposite of what you show when doing the 'demo', then you just understood how the 59.95$ "wheel" works. 59$ for this thing??! No thanks, I can do my own version for about 50cents. Sorry all, but I am so angry at this shamefull price that I neededed to let it out. |

Hi Alouf,
Thanks for your opinion on the effect. If you purchased the effect and were unhappy with it I'll be happy to offer you a refund/credit on it. We've had a lot of positive feedback on the effect, but like anything else it's not equally valuable to everyone. We just want to make sure you have many good options as you add new magic to your show. Best, Maxwell Murphy Penguin Magic |

Certainly can't. It's nice to see good customer service.
In my opinion the value of most magic purchases is defined thus: If you use it the cost is usually low. If you don't/can't use it then it's expensive. |

Thanks Maxwell for your reply. That truely shows that pinguin Magic has great CS. Oh, and btw, I am very happy with almost all the other stuff you guys sell. I bought from you several items that I really was satisfied with. I honestly think you guys have the best Magic Webstore out there.
Concerning the Wheel of mind, no, I did not buy it, I just watched the effect video yesterday, because the device sounded on text so "revolutianary". It it true that not everything is equally valuable to everyone. But if that was the only logic behind everything we buy and sell, then everything would be marked much higher, because everyone would be trying to ask an inreasnable high price. What I mean by this, is that you have to establish a baseline, that can eventually grow and shrink with the offer/demand. But that baseline must be created by comparing the item being sold to similar items or effects , and/or maybe on one item's simplicity/complexity, but making sure that one is hopefully making a profit. I was just wondering how the Wheel of Mind was priced, since the effect ( compared to more complexe effects ) is rather average, the complexity is pretty low, and the manufacturing cost should not be higher than 5$ for a round piece of plastic. The only reason I can see why it is being sold at a high price is that you guys buy it from another manufacturer at an already marked up price. Anyways, thanks again for your reply Maxwell, I just hope you can understand my concern. |
