I was considering purchasing this DVD. However, I have one concern. Are the card productions in this DVD extremely angle based? Can they be used for close-up magic in addition to stage magic?

A few things...
1) BUY THESE DVD'S they are top notch and you will use them for the rest of forever. 2) The answer to your question is yes, and no. It all depends of where your audience is placed, and what your skill level is. Obviously none of the productions can be done completely surrounded, but there are some (such as the "Perfect Production" which come very close). I don't do productions very often, but I do use many of the slieghts employed in this DVD (LePaul Spread, Curly Q, Butterfly Cut, Triple Cut, One handed shuffle, Back, and Tenkai Palm, all the card shooting, the fans, in fact, I can't even think of all the stuff I use from these). They're great, and there should be no doubt in your mind about buying these. WITH THAT SAID... Some of the material in this DVD will take much practice. Some sleights/moves will come quicker than others, but you must love your cards to learn these. And they are WELL worth learning. Jeff's teaching style great! Jordini |

About the angles... I've had bad experiences with angle based tricks like the snap change. I can never be 100% confident that my snap change will work because there's always the slight chance of the angle being a tiny bit off. Are the card productions like this, that a tiny difference in angle will ruin the trick?

If you are into Card Manipulations then this is "THE" set of videos/DVDs to purchase. Jeff McBride covers it all, as to set ups, angles, practise, types of cards and their preparations, etc. As to whether they can be used in close-up magic, my answer would be "yes" but that again depends on your skill and practise. The videos get progressively harder, thus video 1 is the base for the other 2 and the final video is tough. As for angles, most of the productions require that you be infront of the audience, not surrounded, other than that, there's a few that are angle specific that are mentioned. My advice is "Go for it." It's one of the classics in magic education.

I was able to master and perform the Thurston Five Card Vanish and Reproduction from Volume 2 in just a matter of minutes after popping in the DVD for the very first time.
Just kidding.....but it did blow my mind to watch McBride perform it!

I have volume one and it is great!!!
I heard and read on this forum that vol 2 and 3 are more for stage and less for close up. as I dun perform stage, so I didn't get 2 and 3.
