Hi everyone!
I need some advice. I was considering using the diary concept as a presentational aspect for Kenton Knepper's "Kolossal Killer" routine. I like Bob Cassidy's "Chronologue" effect but don't like the idea that astute spectator's looking at the diary may see the force cards repeated so frequently. Using this idea, I could truly put a random assortment of cards on all the days in the diary and use this as the selection procedure for "KK." My "KK" routine allows the spectators to even select the Aces. Any thought on how this routine/presentation might play out? --Scott K.

To be honest, it would play out the same way Mr. Cassidy's routine does. However, it is a really lovely idea.
This version would mean you can have the diary and the wallet on display from the start. That said, why would you want to limit their choices to a diary? It appears as if you have added another door to the effect which the spectator needs to open, and the more doors you give them to open, the more they think trickery is going on. C-

A good idea, Scott.
However, in my opinion, how you play Chronologue really matters, and with the right presentation it is a mind-blowing effect. I'm not assuming that you don't present it properly. I just believe that with the right presentation this effect needs nothing more or less. It is superb. The patter links beautifully to cards. It is a real mystery for spectators. Also, with KK, as Colin rightly said, adding more doors or hurdles or whatever could reduce the impact of an already great effect. There are so many amazing possibilities with the KK principle. I am sure you will come up with more great presentation ideas. But to speak in cliché - if it is not broke... Best regards, Carlo |

Hi, Scott,
I posted the following regarding a similar question. In Greg Arce's method, almost the entire deck is written down in the diary, which makes it virtually impossible for the spectator to notice anything. In most versions, the range is much narrower. The effect in Arce's version is also more direct. quote] On 2004-07-01 15:50, federico luduena wrote: The plot you are describing is the Calendar Trick. It has different versions by various authors, most notably Elmsley and Simon Aronson (his is a very complex version, by the way). To me, the most practical version is by Greg Arce. There's no envelope, but the match is ridiculously easy to do and very deceptive. It will probably be in his upcoming book. _________________ "It will probably BE in his upcoming book". Is there a way to check spelling and grammar within the Café? I need it. Paul Green also marketed his effect using the calendar plot. Michael Close included his version in the Workers series. Arce's is still my choice. His calendar set up looks really close to what you claim it is in performance. There is a considerable chance that a spectator will notice the set up in most of the other versions (with the exception of Aronson and Close, but these are not as practical) federico |

Posted in another thread too!
Hi everyone, My version is called "The Fortuneteller's Book of Days". It was developed after seeing Alex Elmsley perform his "Fate's Datebook". All of the aforementioned props and routines are great! If you want to see my prop, go to http://www.llpub.com/ and then do a search for the product. It is also available through your local dealer. Twenty dollars for such an elegant and classy looking prop! Additionally, you should look at John Luka's handling from Luka in New Tops. Regards, Paul Green |
