I am having a brand-new Chests of Mystery illusion built by Abbott's Magic Co in Colon, MI. It's an illusion they've supplied for years (in fact, it's the 2nd one for me!). The problem is that all the paint stencils at Abbott's were destroyed in their fire of several years ago. The goal is to build this prop just as they used to with the same mind-blowing, garish design that was a riot of color and included images of pyramids, palm trees, feathers, a devil's head and rainbow arcs.
It wasn't subtle. I'm trying to gather images of the prop so the stencils can be re-cut. If you have a photo of this illusion, please let me know. david@davidseebach.com 262/252-3333 Thank you! David Seebach |

Dang! That brings back some memories!
Haven't even thought of that effect in over three-decades and there was a time that I did it at least two or three nights week. I'll see if I can find some old shots... no promises! |

David,
I have some OLD black and white photos of the illusion around here somewhere. I'm not sure how much it would help, but I'll take a look. |

I realize it has been 7 years since this post, so my response is probably irrelevant. However, I remember as a kid in the early 70s watching Mark Wilson's Magic Circus on TV. It seems to me he did this illusion, though I don't know that it had the Abbott design (probably Owens).
