A freind of mine gave me that book about ten years ago and I never took the time to learn not one single routine. I am more of a card man, and I have learned since then that even though I love to read I am definetly a visual learner especially when it comes to magic.
there is a lot of good material in that book if memory serves me. I'll have to dig it up out of storage and take another look. |

That book is one of the best deals in magic. My mentor gave me a copy of the 3d printing (hardback) but I STILL bought the most recent printing - for Chapstick Caper, if nothing else!
But my favorite part would probably be Mark's advice on using magic in everyday business. Just like in the 50s, Mark STILL makes the everyday into something magical.

One of the neat things I found in that book is an improved version of the Afghan Bands. Ir's similar to the one that's in Tarbell (called "King Solomon's Bands), but it allows to do three effects instead of two.

From the card section it's the four ace assembly(similar to MacDonald Aces). In the coin section,Coins Across,Coins Through the Table,Four Coin Assembly and Coin-a-go-go(or something like that). The Cups and Balls,Sponge Ball and Billiard Ball sections are brilliant.

His Cups & Balls routine is great as is his Sponge Ball routine and Billard Balls. His version of the sympathetic coins.
For impromptu, he has a bill transposition that is fantastic. He teaches a super easy cut and restored bills which looks like real magic. Theres more in there. This is one practical book.
Magic is fun!!!

I like very much the tricks with sponge balls,C&B and ropes, but I think 90% of the other tricks are amazing stuff.

Ah, memories. Would you believe that I still have the close-up pad that was supplied with the course? If I close my eyes I can even almost visualize the ad in Boys Life that I used to convince my parents that they should buy it for me.
I may be biased by fondness, but I think there are many good routines in the book, including some good cut-and-restored rope variations. Oh, and the plans for a magic table are pretty useful too, mine served me very well over the years. |

One of My favorites is the Chapter on BETCHAS, the knot in handkerchief is a classic that you will use time and time again.

I have the original as well as the hardbound version, and yes they should be every magicians library.I also have the 8 volume course that was sent in a box with a video and props. There is really good stuff in the books though most are standard routines they are still able to amaze. If you do not own this book, buy it as it will become a classic.

The effect is the important thing, how you achieve it is not.......
