I have gained a lot of tips from this board and decided to finally register.

I’ve had interest in magic for as long as I can remember- since seeing Paul Daniels do the impossible and asking my parents - how?

As a child I had a few magic sets but really only performed for fun - not to others. I did a few tricks for my older siblings and parents, but I was not good and they always knew how I did things ( and my siblings often knew how to stop the trick working so would ruin it ).

I kind of moved away from magic as I got older. As an adult I have gained some interest back. I still don’t perform ( other than silly little tricks for my wife ) but I get enjoyment from the things I do.

As a child I found card tricks boring, as an adult - my favorite tricks are card tricks. With props I feel you get a few tricks, with a deck of cards you have fun, games, and a world of tricks.

I drift in and out of magic so not sure I’d even say it is a real hobby.

I do buy more books and videos occasionally, (and more rarely the odd prop) and I drift in and out of practicing tricks too.

I think mostly I enjoy breaking down tricks to work out how they are done. Which probably will make me unpopular.

I also recently had a child of my own so maybe when he gets older I can impress him with some things.

I agree ... everyone has "dipped their toes" into magic, but we always come back.
It's intriguing. Sometimes you just can't put it down.

When your kid's a little older, don't forget the classic "behind the ear" trick -- my youngest is going on 7, me "pulling things out of his ears" is his absolute favorite (especially cards)!
