Hello, I've always loved magic and dabbled in it for fun. But my 9 year old son is really interested in it. I bought him his 1st magic kit at the store for Christmas. I've been helping him learn the tricks and practice. He did his 1st show with about 5 tricks for our immediate family a few days ago. I love seeing him have so much fun.

Hello and welcome jericho ...
bless him, your son has so much enthusiasm and confidence to perform his own "show" so quickly. Great respect ... wulfiesmith |

Thanks. We just discovered that all the "fool us" episodes are free on the CW app. Wish we had found that during the holidays when we had more time to binge watch.

Welcome! What a fantastic Father Son activity you've embarked on. You'll both love it while building those memories and bonding.
Good job Dad. You might be surprised how much your own magic will flourish as well. Best to you. |

Please allow me to suggest that it would be best for him to build a good foundation by learning the classics. Ball and Vase, Imp Bottle, Svengali Deck, and other classics like those are beneficial to getting a good understanding of methods.

That is so awesome. Always great to hear about young people getting interested in the craft and such a positive activity to share between a father and son. I used to work at a magic theatre and still fill in there from time to time and the thing I miss the most is teaching people who bought a magic kit how to do some of the effects that are in it after a show. There is nothing better than seeing their faces light up when they get it right (or very close at least) the first time. I usually only get them for the one night though; you'll get to spend years experiencing it so I envy you. Congratulations to both of you.

You may want to check out Ryland the Kid Magician on Instagram and other social media sites. It's Craig Petty's son, but I had been following him for several months before I even realized that, so he's a great kid magician in his own right and he's only 10 years old or so. Your son might enjoy watching somebody near his age doing some great magic.
Also, my eight year old got a big kick out of watching Jeki Yoo's videos on Instagram, though he does occasionally sneak some adult humor into his videos, so watch out for that. |
