Does it bother anybody else that you have to "Submit" to post a message? Couldn't the button say, "Enter" or "Finished?" What if I don't want to submit? Had anybody else noticed this?
Aargh! I have to submit if I want this read! How frustrating! |

Yeah, just think ... Steve Brooks has gotten over 114,000,000 thrills because of it.

The reason for this is that the default html tag to, "submit" information is, "submit." That is why most forms, forums, etc, use the, "submit" button instead of the, "Put this post into the forum so that everyone can read it" button. Shane Wiker |

The thing that frightens me is that you 'submit' your views to the entire planet, and there seems no way of retracting anything once you've 'submitted'. This is not a complaint by the way, but just an observation. OK you Magic Café heirarchy, if someone wanted to delete their 1350 posts or whatever, - could they? Or could you change your membership name if you wanted to, and if you did would it change on every post you've made?

Good one Shane, I stand corrected. But you get my drift! Sorry to have to undo so many thrills, Steve.

To answer your questions, aceparties, as of several weeks ago, no, members are not able to delete their posts, exept under certain conditions: if nobody has responded AND it has been less than fifteen minutes since the post was made. We had a couple folks who started going through the Café and editing all the text out of their posts, so we had to put a stop to it. As you might expect, the continuity of topics is easily ruined when posts are deleted.
The members can't change their own usernames. Steve Brooks, Gene, and I have the ability to do that for you. When we change a name at the members request, the name changes on their posts, PM's, and several other places. The "Submit" button can be coded to say whatever the webmaster wants it to say. In the PM system, the "Submit" button says "Send Message". |

Thank you Mary. Yes, it is possible on so many forums to go back, change your text, and make the guy that replies to you seem like an ass! I have to admit I've done it once or twice myself on a specialist automobile site I visit! This subject may also tie-in with one I made some time ago about creating a timebomb for oneself expressing views over the internet.
