The gimmick looks like the flap and after such an amazing visual no one is likely to make the connection or notice anything when it’s in its new “form”. Obviously you don’t linger on it and there’s no need to since it’s logical to open the envelope fairly quickly anyway. When I used to do the original version I would insert the signed card face up in the face down deck, change the deck to the envelope, and pull the card part way out of the envelope, and the card is face down due to it being inserted face up, then remove the deck from the pocket where the envelope had been, finally call attention back to the card in envelope and show that it is the signed card. The gimmick is close enough in appearance to the tyvek envelope that it almost acts as a type of dual reality that can appear to be a deck of cards when in that context or the flap of the envelope after the change, at least for a quick glance. |

They should call it the "poe-poe-lope" since people who've been drinking run away when they see it. lol. If I were a spectator, I'd be asking to see that envelope. Otherwise, it does look like trick photography.

How hard is the move that gets the deck into the pocket?

I have to say, the demo looks great and the early reviews are encouraging. The powerful and instant visual effect reminds me of Extreme Burn, which is a fantastic effect too.

But if you turn away for a second while they are signing their card you have great misdirection to accomplish what you need to, and it only takes less than a second to do. Received this today and my initial impression is that the gimmick is very good. I like it much better than the original. The couple changes make a big difference IMO. Actually, to be completely honest, I should say that I like the new gimmick better in every way but one. I don’t like the included PH gimmick nearly as much as the original, or any PH gimmick I’ve ever owned for that matter. They are hopefully not all like this but with mine the color is much darker than usual and has an almost purplish gray tint to it. I don’t think it matches an actual deck of cards nearly as well and it also doesn’t blend in with the Tyvek envelope as well as version one either. The PH gimmick gets a D- from me but everything else (including the tutorial) gets an A. I will simply switch out the supplied PH gimmick for another one since I’ve acquired several over the years, so it’s an easy fix for me but may not be so easy for someone who doesn’t have another. Of course it may look fine to others, especially if they don’t have another one to compare it to, so you may be fine with it as it is. Or maybe I just got a bad one. But other than the PH gimmick, which granted is a pretty important part but can be easily switched, the gimmick is improved overall IMO. |

I noticed in the demo that the PH gimmick looked too dark. At one point, I thought “the flap of the envelope just turned purple.” Mine arrived today but I haven’t opened it yet.

People are saying the gimmick has no shine (therefore probably not "very high quality vinyl"), and there is a very noticeable white crease across the gimmick. Have people been performing with this crease and can attest that it's not an issue? |

I don't think the issue is the crease on the back of the envelope, it's the crease on the back of the top card of "the deck" that everyone is staring at before the change.

Yes, your hand will be on top as you "spread the cards", but there's still a visible crease. However, I'm willing to accept that it's not an issue if some people tell me they've performed with it (version 2.0) multiple times and claim it's a non-issue. |

Had the original envylope which I performed probably 100s of times and not once did anyone notice the shininess or the crease. So don’t worry about it!

The crease on the new version is actually more visible on video than in real life IMO. Whereas with the original I felt it was just the opposite and was more visible in real life. Never cared for the shininess of the original either although it did not seem to be an actual issue when used.
Keep in mind also that some routines are taught where you have a genuine card on top of the gimmick to act as a cover and that gets removed as part of the routine and as that card is shown your hand holding the deck can wrist kill and drop nonchalantly to your side for a moment as the card is put away. When you bring your hand back up it immediately meets your other hand and you do the spread and then the change to envelope. This allows for only a very brief glimpse of the gimmick card on top. Not saying it is necessary to do this, only that there are ways to keep the gimmick pretty hidden if the crease bothers you. But remember it is MUCH easier to see a gimmick when looking for one and once you see it you can’t unsee it, so it will stand out like a sore thumb. Personally, I don’t see this aspect as a problem but I realize it’s subjective. If it really bothers you then you may telegraph it somehow or just end up never performing it so it might be best to avoid this trick. But worth noting that the new gimmick is no longer shiny and plastic looking. I believe it may be a real card but I only just got this and haven’t examined it closely enough to determine if it’s a genuine card or some type of reproduction. |
