I see a lot of Yard Signs along the road advertising services, and I was wondering if anyone used them for advertising birthday parties? I was thinking about putting them around schools. You can get them for less than $4.00 each. Any thoughts?

During election season, when the candidates had their yard signs out, a friend made one with his picture on and phone number with his Vote for me as magician for your party.
It worked well, lots of calls |

I'd be hesitant to do that KC, it may tick property owners off, and give people the type of impression you don't want. On the other hand maybe I'm overthinking it, maybe it's fine and it will work.

For the record, I think he is talking about ‘road’ signs not actual ‘yard’ signs like a ‘Yard Sale Here’ sign that you see in a yard.
I agree that you certainly would not just put one in someone's yard. Unless you first have permission. Those political signs you see in people's yards are put there by the homeowner showing support for that candidate. But placing one beside the ‘road’ is a different story. The space next to a public road is owned by the road. (I’m not sure how much space but usually a few feet) As long as it doesn’t interfere with traffic, it shouldn’t be a problem in most places. Near a stop sign works best. Don't leave it very long oh or the road people will remove it when cutting grass, etc. I would keep moving it around every so often. Not a birthday party ad, but in the past I would use road signs to advertise a public show. Tom

I believe he is talking about Bandit Signs, and yes, we have used these in several capacities for over 30 years since the 90s.
I thought I saw this topic in Tricky Business since it had to do with advertising, but maybe it was moved here, or I could be wrong. These have been very successful for us in several capacities including for kids parties, Santa visits, fundraisers, and more. We have alos used these for live events we produce including business expos, wedding fairs/expos, collectibles shows, and also in tourist areas for our performances. Many uses and opportunity for creative promotions and advertising. They are also used for open houses, real estate investing, legal services, political candidates, construction, and many other uses. There are companies that actually put these out for you in locations around town or in a specified area on Fridays and then take them down on Mondays so they are visible for the heavy weekend traffic. |

Just my opinion, I think Road Signs are tacky - In So. Calif. and when we moved to New Jersey - we had Illustrated Yellow Pages Ads in several Counties- sooo busy, we had to develop 4 Wife - 4 self - different Acts for Birthday Parties- due to repeats - plus multi references - AND it was an Ad-Vocation. Now retired --Debt Free, including a Home.
