Good day all!
Long time lurker, first time poster. As per the title, I would like to get some input on Steve Faulkners online course at onlinemagic.co. I started magic in about 2019, but due to covid, I had to stop going through the course. My question is, has anything changed since then? I am particularly interested in his going through RRTCM. His videos are excellent quality, I am just not sure how much of the course is complete yet. More importantly, I would like to get some insight from the seasoned professionals on this forum. I am more a visual learner, but I do have the RRTCM book, but believe I would greatly benefit from his videos as well. Do you feel that it is worth the extra step in explaining the more difficult runs of instruction? The added benefit of the videos over the lackluster diagrams and the like? For 10Pounds a month, it's a bit steep for me in South Africa, but books are by far, more expensive. Shipping alone is over $50 a shot if I expect to get it via a courier and not our bankrupt post offices. In an ideal world, I would grab Card College, and the accompanying videos, but with me already having RRTCM, I think this would be the cheapest option, as he not only covers RRTCM, but a bunch of other stuff. For those that have gone through it - what were your pros and cons? I know @vlad77 had a few posts on it, but I don't see anything after 2017 or so. So I am not sure what happened with that. Your help would be appreciated. |

So, I took the plunge and made the purchase.
I have been devouring it this weekend just to go through it and see what it all offers again. It is a treasure trove. Seriously. There are hundreds of videos explaining every single detail of a sleight, what hiccups may arise and issues that Steve has personally overcome when he was learning the moves. I think the biggest thing that I enjoy is the live sessions. I have watched a few in my downtime, and the conversations that happen within them are amazing. You have 10 or so people mention what issues they are facing in their journey (even if it is not in the course), and Steve and others give their input in to how one can better the move, and again, what issues may arise - especially flashing and your hands (whether too big or too small) and how to get over it. Steve also replied to comments on the course within a couple of minutes, and answered any questions I had. This plus the live sessions alone would be worth the money purely down to having someone of his pedigree being an email away. It is amazing. I am starting again tomorrow going deep with RRTCM and have his teaching accompany me while doing so. I think it is the best way to go through my beginning run as a hobby magician. I truly believe that anyone would benefit from this - as I know from experience of being a musician for just under 30 years, going back to the basics is always a good thing every once in a while. |

I've never heard of that course but I will check it out. Thanks!
