On this past week's Masters of Illusion, Andi Gladwin performed an effect with a 3-digit combination padlock looped through a deck of playing cards. Three spectators glimpsed a playing card while Andi riffled the deck. It turned out the values of their cards were the 3 digits that opened the padlock. But then their cards had vanished from the deck, reappearing in a packet wallet in Andi's pocket.

Is this a commercial trick or something from one of Andi's books? Name of effect?

Thanks!

Mark

Sounds like a nice routine. I’d be interested to know as well.

Looks like the trick Locked Deck with his spin on it. Ive had this trick years ago around 10 yrs old. Im 60 now.
My friend still does it in his shows but with only 1 card.
I like what he added.
Penguin sells it but its sold out. Once you know the secret you would know how he did it.

The deck was padlocked from the very start. And a combination lock, not a keyed lock. So a fair bit different than the Locked Deck on Penguin for $10 (sold out).

Perhaps Vanishing Magic Inc will be selling Andi's effect, eventually?

Andi's performance is in season 9, episode 13. It can be viewed online here:

Yes
So the locked deck with his spin on it. Instead of a paddle lock a combination lock. Instead of 1 force card he had 3 to go with the combination part of the trick he came up with.
Exact same thing.

I reached out to Andi Gladwin via email. He informed me that there is no immediate plan to market the effect. He said there are still some kinks he wants to work out, plus he wants to perform it a few hundred more times. Then he will consider releasing the effect for retail sale.
