Tyler,
When it comes to finding a name for your business or show, do not depend on others to find a brand name for yourself. Instead, find something that best describes you, what you do, and what your customers can expect from you. You're looking for help from a bunch of magicians... try looking into what the people who are going to pay money for you are looking for. You have the answer to every question inside of you already. Search there. Not here. -E |

Tyler,
With the name "Xtreme Magic", you've just eliminated the children's shows you said you did. Also nix any family shows. "Cupcake the Clown" won't play the Las Vegas Strip. Define your market and pick an appropriate name. If you are happy with "Xtreme Magic" you'll now have to figure out where that market is. Good luck with your venture.

Tyler,
Here's the inherent problem with a name like "Xtreme Magic"... unless you can deliver just that, your monicker will be a misnomer. Also, the use of the word "extreme" has been overused so much nowadays that we see it describing everything from shampoo to hidden camera magic shows. Don't fall into that trap. You can come up with a better business name. I'm sure many in this Café would agree. -E |

I loved what mister E said!
Also, if you are going to do all those different types of shows there is no rule that you have to have one set name for your business. Maybe, come up with a name that has your name in it and then print up seperate bus. cards for each type of magic that you do. That way you are able to "specialize" in the type of magic that the individual is interested in and not seem like you just do a little bit of everything. Like going to a specialist (doctor) when you something specific needs to be done. And, each time you perform close up, stage, or a kids show get the client to write up a letter of rec. Post it on your web site so others that are interested can see that you know what you are doing and that you can entertain different age groups and in different magical styles. In the end it's your decision, as long as you are pleased with the result. -Zack |

It depends, as others have mentioned, on the venue or market you are trying to market yourself to. For example, if you are going after the corporate market (as I do), take your name out of the title. Companies like to pay other companies for services, they hate paying individuals. My "company's" name is "Mind Control Productions". I am the sole performer, but companies who hire me, don't know that.
If you are going after the family/kid shows, then your name might work better. People think that hiring an individual who is "doing this on the side" is cheaper than hiring a "company". |

My wife and I are "Belladona Entertainment."
Belladona is the name of our dog. That's our business name, but we perform under our public names (Dr. Stephen Midnight; Andrea) Steve

Tyler,
"Magic to a T" your logo is an "M" with a "T" in superscript, shown as "M to the T power", similar to "E equals M C squared". ...just a suggestion. -E |
