Does anyone have experience with Promystic’s Media Star Pro vs Audio APE Pro? I’m looking to update my music control system and weighing these units for my best option. I plug into 1 or more Bose S1’s and prefer to be off power. I’m assuming I’ll need to plug either of these into a battery pack. Thanks!

I'd love to hear from anyone who may have some experience with either of these and could share their insights.

Thanks,
Dan.

Media Star seems to be rather new and there may not be many users yet to review. I don't think the Dog Whisper has quite the perspective that I am seeking. I believe they're planning to have some new stock soon. I saw the unit at Magic Live but wanted to assess options first. Audio Ape already has some ongoing use in the market and I hope user experience mirrors that learning curve but I am a bit surprised that nobody has any sharable experience. On the surface both units look worthy of consideration but are they loaded with lots of tech options that I don't use? If I see some Black Friday pricing, I may have to consider that as a hopeful sign to purchase.

I used the first version of AA - rock solid product. I have heard complaints about the latest version, but no actual hands-on experience.

We switched to MSP back in 2018 - Been AMAZING! The only issue we have had is the remote has started to drain the battery lately. We bought a backup and will look into fixing the original.

Hello, I used MP3 Tech for years and for just music playback it worked very well. After the support for new Mac's changed, the units (I had two or them) became unusable. I then went to Media Star and it was fine, but since there is no screen to make sure it is set correctly for my shows, I found it cumbersome. It is supposed to fire the Audio Ape app but that was not consistent for me. I like the visual of where the cues are to check during my shows. Some of my shows are "audio" only, some fire cue lab for efx and lighting. I just ordered the Audio Ape system, with Battery, ankle fire, and an extra remote. After watching the you tube review and training, it seems like what I will be needing......but we will see....I will report back later after I use it a few times.

Thanks David! I purchased the Media Star device and so far have been very pleased. It is very stealth and connects directly to my Bose S1 for excellent amplification. I use the SD car as my files are all MP3s and presently use 2 remotes .. thinking about adding a 3rd. My only criticisms are 1) Hard to see setup display when getting equipment ready (my eyes aren't that good any more,) and 2) There is a very brief pause between cues to the next track. Pushing the button too soon will cue the following track. I mostly need to condition myself to allow for the extremely brief pause. I have not used the AA system but I was impressed with its tech as well. I don't know if there is a pause between the cues as well but assume this is normal with most any audio tech. The display is very nice but will need to be positioned as well. My speakers are often spread out so I don't often have easy site of a potential display. I hope that feedback helps.
