I am visiting New Jersey and New York City for a couple more weeks, and I have been searching for magic stores in New York. I know they have to be there, but I'm not finding any. Anyone know of any? Perferably in Manhattan. Thanks.

There are two that I know of:
Tannens (24 W 25th st., second floor) is kind of small, but very helpful with demonstrating tricks for you. Abracadabra (9 W 21st St.) is much bigger and they carry magic, gags, costumes, and juggling equipment. A bit expensive, but you will feel like a kid in a candy store when you walk in the door. |

Thanks a ton. I will be sure to check them out.

Tannens is what really piqued my interest in magic. I was there and a saleperson while talking to me casually picked up a playing card and threw it ito the air to vanish, and then turned his hands over to show them empty. I knew how he must have done it, but his prowess blew me away. Someday I'll do it as well as him .
Be warned, Tannen's isn't much to look at. |

Agree with Tannens, helpful and great customer service, not the cheepest though, but still - the visit is worth it...
