Rob,
Lots of fun. Loved the suit. The costume change with your wife was outstanding. And I like the idea of the torn and restored with silks coming out of the paper. Kind of reminded me of the old Al-producto thing. Christian & Katalina

Mr. Evans,
Great Job! I want to learn the Quick Change too! ("Quick" is not a word usually associated with women changing clothes. You are a magician!) Great effect! Silk fountains are always welcome eye candy to an audience. Now, with streamer centers, that is special. And you know that I have to brag about your very effective use of the Line of Silks. That was a very impressive and authoritative way to take control of the whole stage. It established that it was your stage and your show. Audiences need that. It says "Attention Please! I'm here to work for you! Watch this." Thank you too for the kind words. I'm flattered. Bob Sanders Magic By Sander PS --- And just think, down here we were taught to be afraid of the Red Coats! |

Hehehehe, thanks Bob, but I think you should know that Red Coat came from California!
I'd like to take credit for the silk fountain with streamer and the quick change routines, but they both are Pat's creations. She markets them on her web site. The line of silks and that streamer from the torn & restored newspaper were put together with your help. So thank you! Rob |

Rob,
We are out of Indianapolis. Commenting on Bob Sanders comments, I have to say the Line of silks does grab your attention. And I liked how they came out slow. You had the feeling of . . . come on, how many are there. Currently, Katalina and I are working on a silk piece in our show. Too bad we do not live closer to Bob Sanders, it would be nice to get some of his council. Every now and then we get to Alabama but not that often. Christian & Katalina

I would like to mention the blendo effect - silk fountain- sik to cane and vise versa - 20th century silk frame - supersonic wand (vanishing silk)-mutilated parasol.

Christian & Katalina,
When you come to Alabama, rattle my cage! We have a rehearsal theater here on the ranch. The ranch is midway between Birmingham and Montgomery on I-65. Or get with John Luka at Magicians Lecture Network and let's work on a lecture up there. This may be the right spring to do that. How soon is the snow and ice gone? Bob Sanders Magic By Sander |

Greetings,
Here are some of my favorite routines... Happy Birthday Silks (Jozo Bozo) Flash Silk Stand (U.G.M. - Japan) - this one is hard to come by right now and packs flat and plays big! Mismade Frankie - story line based on Fankenstien Happy Magic! Sal |

I really like Bruce Amato's Happy Birthday Silks more than Jozo Bozo's. Bozo's are more cartoon-like, but Bruce's are a more conventional "banner" and if the kids aren't old enough to read, Jozo Bozo's cartoonish nature is lost on them anyway. If you want a different take, look at Amato's as he performs in Kidabra Birthday DVD (and he sells online and is good to deal with).

I also love the vanishing knots off silk, open silk and holes are in the silk where the knots were supposed to have been, always gets great reaction...
Dukes Dye version -- The old Duke Stern Putting 5 silks into rolled paper tube, having people note the colors; have two people stand on either side of paper tube and pull out one of the colors each; but silks have disppeared as they try to pull, transforming into a gorgeous multicolored fifty foot streamer that grows out of tube as people pull and walk to either side of the stage. The paper tube is opened a message of the season or whatever is on the inside the separate silks are gone. beautiful display and interaction within a group. Can be done patform living room or stage. Any message may appear within the tube. So much fun and action... George Blakes Untying or Spooky silk Five different colored silks silks are knotted on a cord or cloth tape. A child or anyone is given the power of the finger point. Points randomly at a silk and calls out a color and the silk eerily unties itself and slips to the floor. Quote: Best to bring out the TT someware in the middle of the silk routine and finish without it being in the hand. Works for me when starting out with an 18 inch silk and it can also be a thick one from the tuxs shop. They have some real nice quality silks. A small piece of silk attached to the TT works well for mid way flash. Good luckOn 2004-10-12 22:34, RonCalhoun wrote:

My favourite is silk to egg. And I love the routine Timothy Drake does with silk to egg.

Correct me if I am wrong but nobody seemed to mention card to silk. I'm shocked!

Seeing all these routines, I'm interested in learning more about silks. I have been working on a knotted silks routine for about 6 months and am doing well with it (ala Slydini). Are there definitive silk DVDs or books that contain most of the routines discussed here?
