I have a Fab Fruit lemon I got many Yeats ago. I hadn't used it for a bit, and when I pulled it out, it had gone green and brown in a few spots. Almost like it was bruised.
Has anyone found a way to fix this? Perhaps by cleaning, or painting perhaps?

I assume you're referring to Michael Ammar's Fab Fruit, which I've been buying for at least 25 years. One thing I finally had to accept is that these things have limited lifespans, at least if you're going to use them for anything beyond practicing. There have been multiple generations of Fab Fruit, each different, each with their own quirks. The early ones smelled funky and would get discolored after a few years, as if there was some mold growing on the inside. No, you can't wash the spots away. Later ones are very susceptible to sunlight, and will discolor if exposed to light (I'm not even talking about direct sunlight, but rather just indirect sunlight, like through drapes). The most recent one I bought, a lime, was weirdly hand-painted. I tried to return it but no one at Ammar Magic would respond to my requests. I've given up on Ammar, and am experimenting with other fruit. I bought a lime (an Everlasting Fruit) from Michael Kaminskas, but was disappointed by its size (too small). I bought a fake lemon from PropDog, but it was awful. I just bought a lemon from Steve Myers Magic (called Final Fruit). It looks okay, but has a 'tacky' feel to it that attracts dirt. Nothing is perfect, they all have their pluses and minuses. My favorite fake fruit was the second generation (I think) of Ammar's Fab Fruit - just the right size, texture and look. Every generation since then seems like a step backwards.

Thanks for the info, Merenkov.
That's disappointing to hear. I'm currently talking to a company that offers a lemon made of plastisol that they say they have sold to magicians. It's not listed on their website, https://www.justdezineit.com/ but if you contact them they offer it. I'm just trying to work out how to get it shipped/pick it up. Sucks being in Canada for shipping.

Sometimes fake fruit that’s made for commercial displays looks great, but they’re too light, so you need to make sure that fake lemon weighs about the same as a real lemon. Probably the best solution is to buy fake fruit at a magic convention where you can actually see and feel it in person. Gotta do a little research beforehand hand, though, to see which dealers are at which conventions.
