Just exceptional!
I hope all the many things Vinny has contributed are being chronicled somewhere. Just some amazing card & coin handlings, routines, and effects in his repertoire. You might not find them in any big card magic book, but sometimes you gotta ask yourself why some of this stuff is not there?

Vinny you are generous with your knowledge and ideas. Do they suit everyone? Let’s hope not because it would be a boring world if we were all the same. Just keep being you.

Hey Vinny,
Just had a look at this move. I really like the concept of it, thank you for sharing it. If I may add a couple of thoughts: 1. I feel the 'moment' is way too quick/jerky, as a result, as a spectator I was at ease until that moment, then I tensed up along with the execution. If you think of the left hand similarly to how you'd do a card-on-the-table vanish (covered by the hand - forgot the move's name right now), I'm sure you can afford to execute the 'moment' more slowly. 2. The 'spectator's card' which ends in the middle of the pile - I think - would look more natural if it curved the opposite way. I understand that given the nature of the move, it might be hard to get the same angle every time. However in the example you posted, I do feel it's a bit exaggerated. Try to actually put the card down there and see how awkward at an angle your left hand should be (or thumb should make a weird arc) to have it land in that rotation. I'd try to see how it'd look with the card shooting more 'straight' or even rotated in the opposite direction to what it is now. 3. This is more of a theoretical idea, that would end up 'changing the move' effectively, just retaining the aesthetics of it (which I like!). I have a feeling you could consider 'cleaning it up completely', by using Michael Vincent's vertical handling of Lorayne's UMove (not sure how detailed I can go with techniques names here). That would still allow for a 'very fair' display of the card, would justify having to do it with one hand (deleting perhaps the only 'weird' thing about that technique) and you could do the 'moment' as SLOOOOOOOOOW as you'd like. Actually, I might go and try that last one myself! |

IMO The move(sleight) looks just fine and accomplishes it's intended purpose without any type of suspicion, scrutiny or weirdness. It looks very natural. It's not precise brain surgery. In my experience performing in many venues no one is critiquing to that degree.
Thanks Vinny for your years of sharing your talents.
