I've read an article in a genii magazine about the history of vaudeville, but I don't remember, where it was ? Genii index wasn't a help - any idea ?

If you mean the search engine on the Genii website , I agree. It's not a very user friendly search engine in my experience.

But could you be more specific about the date range of when you think the article appeared ? Any idea of the author ?
For example: "I recall reading an article in Genii magazine in the mid-1990's about the history of vaudeville" or "I recall reading an article in Genii magazine that I think was published around 2015 about the history of vaudeville." would help narrow it down. What date range ? 1940's - 1960's , 1970's - 1980's , 1990's - early-2000's or within the last 10 - 15 years ?

Searching around a bit I found the issue from Feb 1990 with the cover feature story on "Vaudeville 2000" (which was a show produced by Rudy Coby and Kevin James, based on the format of vaudeville entertainment). That issue has a couple of articles that talk about the history of vaudeville, written by Milt Larsen. Is this the issue of Genii you are thinking about?

Ok, that narrows down the search! Doing a quick search through Genii issues from 2019 - to the Present I have not yet found a single article on "The History of Vaudeville", but during that period in Genii there is Mike Caveney's fascinating column "Classic Correspondence" , which features letters exchanged between magicians and there is much discussion about vaudeville. I'm wondering if the article you are remembering is one of Caveney's "Classic Correspondence" columns ?
