One of the most wonderful things about Magic and Mentalism is having the real opportunity to meet the people whose work you love.
Living in Vancouver I've felt particularly lucky.

Today I'm posting about a small world moment when I happened to reach out to Julien Losa-- whose Billets for the Modern Mind Reader series I love. I particularly loved Billet Chi!
Anyway he works the cruise lines and a couple of years ago he mentioned he was going to be docked in Vancouver for a day and did anyone want to go for a coffee... I piped up but before we could make arrangements he was called back.

Cut to this past spring, he was back in town and this time we managed to meet and we had lunch and chatted and shared the gossip and off he went.

Then in the way Small World's work, a friend of Julien's-- who created Billet Chi-- was compiling a Taxonomy of Q&A presentations and methods for his new website. He saw a post I made here on the cafe about this thingy I made that I shared with some people. He said to his friend Julien-- I wonder if I should get in touch with this guy and Julien said, something in French probably, but along the lines of-- "Mais je connais monsieur d!"

Anyway Nestor reached out and now I'm in a Taxonomy of Q&A! Plus there's an ebook write up of my original gizmo.

Hooray for me!

I think it'd be too self-serving of me to say how terrific these ebooks are, but I was was surprised by the depth and breadth of methods and presentations that were covered in Nestor's book.
I was also impressed by the other effects and essays that were available on the site.

Again, I don't think my review would be objective. (although I have been on the record about how great Billets for the Modern Mind Reader long before I met either gentleman)

I appreciate the fun story Dave.

I too am grateful for the people and situations the arts of Mentalism and Magic have brought into my life. I can only hope the same goes for those reading this.

I just wanted to contribute a modest comment here. I’m one of those people who Nestor pointed out Dave’s pad too. I like a method that I can create inexpensively, especially if it’s practical and works. Dave’s Banny pad fits all those criteria. I’m glad to see it on Nestor’s site.

And, full disclosure, I have material soon to be published on the site as well.
So while that may indicate bias for some, I only wish to say that I’m grateful to have some of my work along side of other high caliber content.

Nestor is a friend of mine and genuinely a true scholar of the art of Mentalism. He has good taste, and if you look at the offerings on the site, I believe you will come to agree as well. And since my work isn’t on there just yet, I can write that and sleep well at night.

For historical purposes, the discussion with Julien went something like this:

- Hey, I just went to Vancouver, had a fun chat with Dmoses. Do you know him?
- He is the guy who did the Banny pad! It's great stuff. I wanted to talk about it in the taxonomy, but it's hard to recommend since it's not on sale anywhere...
- He is a lovely Canadian person. You should just ping him!

So far, working on the website has been a ton of fun. I am shamelessly asking people whose work I love to give me their best (including some unpublished stuff), and they say yes! I have no logical explanation, but I will not complain about it. I try to make up for it by publishing personal pieces of roughly the same caliber, but I don't know if I will be able to keep up the pace...

On that note, I am going to see if I can find an excuse to go to Vancouver...

Well, I'm very excited to be a small part of it, Nestor.

Can you tell me a couple of things--
first, when do you think the site is going to launch, officially.
second, is there going to be another volume of Billets for the Modern Mind Reader coming up there any time soon?

The website has been online but not advertised for a couple month (as I ensured everything works as expected) but it is now up and running! (https://deesecrets.com)

It is very far from having all of the things I want out (the Billet Chi booklet should get there before Christmas for example) but I try to go slow and steady

And yes, Billet for the Modern Mind Reader vol5 has been filmed and will be an exclusivity (as will be vol6 whose effect list was finalized recently...). Julien is busy switching billets in Spain but it will be coming as soon as he get dead time
