a rumor. Neither the studio or spielberg has made a statement.

I played the most popular bar in Astoria.The Red Lion. We stayed in the same room once rented by Patty Duke, Sean Astins mother. The town has turned the old jail into a movie museum. Lots of movies were shot in Astoria. The crew for Teenage Ninja Turtles stayed there also while we were playing for a couple weeks in the bar. We'd be getting off of work around 2 AM and they'd be getting up for breakfast around 4 so we had catered breakfast with the turtles occasionally. Astoria is a fun town. The Goonies house is still a popular place to see but you are no longer allowed on the property last I checked. There is rumor of a spin off movie by Justin Lee with Sean Astin ... I was asked to join the cast if it ever goes into production. I had totally forgotten that Arthur had written the title track.
