I found a neat web site containing journals and sketches by Orson Welles.
If you skip down a paragraph or two, he tells a remarkable story about Harry Houdini, and then a hillarious story about his inability to court women with magic. http://www.wellesnet.com/sketchbook4.htm

That was fascinating reading! That lady in the story, the one who said "You must have seen it in the sky before you did the trick." well, that is SO typical of reactions I sometimes get. Of course the spectators response is an absurdity, but she didn't realize that, and to her the explanation made perfect sense and explained neatly away the miracle Mr wells was trying to plant in her soul.
Now just imagine if Blaine got the same reaction from his taxi cab illusion. "You must have seen that taxi cab with "Dawn" written on it before you did the trick!" (DUH!!!) It's spectator's of this mindset that sometimes want to make me throw up my hands in utter frustration.
The difficult must become easy, the easy beautiful and the beautiful magical.
