Hey people..
Anyone has read BOTH these books??
If so, how do you compare the 2 books?
I have Impossibilia, but would like to know how Smoke and Mirrors is like...Is it as good as Impossibilia? Better? Totally different? Similar?
Please help.
Thanks

Impossibilia is very good, but S&M is superb.
Every problem contains the seeds of its own solution. Unfortunately every problem also contains the seeds of an infinite number of non-solutions, so that first part really isn't super helpful.

Are both "similar" in style??

Does Smoke and Mirrors require those gaff wallets and other gaffs like Impossibilia?

Both are very good books, but Smoke And Mirrors is a step up for my taste.

I only have Smoke and Mirrors but I have the videos of both. They both seem good.

I've gotten 4 or 5 routines that I perform constantly out of each book. Get 'em both if you can...you can't go wrong!

I have found that the material in Smoke and Mirrors is cleverer, but the stuff in Impossibilia is more useable. For what it's worth, John agreed with me when I mentioned this to him at a lecture.

But they are both great books, and recommended.

Take care, Ian

The best tricks in Impossibilia are better than the best tricks in Smoke and Mirrors. However, on average, Smoke and Mirrors has better tricks.

I have 3 things in my repitoire from Impossibilia, and 2 from Smoke and Mirrors.

The best collection of Bannons material, is his first A-1 video. It seems to have the most of the best tricks from Impossibilia and Smoke and Mirrors.

I think Smoke and Mirrors is the better of the two. Just today I had to return the copy I had borrowed from a local magician friend of S&M. I own Impossibilia and I think it is a great book, but S&M is better. I emailed Richard Kaufman last night about if he is going to reprint it sometime in the future and his reply was a reprint is slated for 2005...
