How can I stop getting these commercial messages from coming to me?I am not interested in buying any of these products.it is annoying...
God's grace rocks! It makes a good cups and balls routine look pretty boring in comparison.

I've always found it kind of annoying when people complain about them. It’s these advertisers that keep the Cafe a free community for everyone here. You don’t have to open them. You don’t have to like them. You don’t even have to do anything cause they’ll fall off after a certain amount of time. I think it’s a small feature to tolerate for something as great as the Cafe and all it has to offer.

Every member of our Cafe community agreed to receive them when they joined.

The topic is addressed here.

But essentially: Café members regularly receive announcements or special offers via private message from The Magic Café and its sponsors regarding magical products or events which we feel may be of interest to our magical members. When you sign up as a member of the Magic Café you agree to receiving such notices from us as part of your FREE membership. This is a small price to pay for free access to such a great resource such as The Magic Café. Besides, if the message does not interest you, delete it.

Nuff' said. Smile

Advertising is how almost everything online is funded. Just like YouTube. Just like TV adverts back in the day.
It keeps the lights on.

Well it is not as bad as those dreadful loud ads on YouTube that no one is interested in, and pops up 30 times in one video. At least on here you do not have to read them or click on them, and you are not forced to. So I think they are a small price to pay which actually costs you nothing. Those sponsors help keep this site going and free, so I at least check them out as a courtesy, since I have been posting on here for over 20 years now.

For YouTube ads you may want to try the web browser extension "uBlock Origin", it is very good at blocking them. Most content creators are funded by advertising products themselves in their videos, and those who don't usually have community funding pages where you can support them without having to watch ads.
(This extension does not block ads on the Magic Cafe, so I hope it is ok to mention it.)

Regarding the special offers by private messages, I think the format is actually quite good.
They are not too frequent and disappear by themselves after some time so it is not really intrusive, and since they are selected by the Cafe team I usually open them out of curiosity.

Yeah I saw those, but I am not into downloading or having any junk programs on my PC as I like to keep it fully clean for gaming. Having all kinds of programs on it will bog down performance. I don't mind one or two YouTube ads, but some videos have gotten completely ridiculous and "greedy" placing 10 non-skip 15 second ads in a 10 minute video. All this does is make the content unwatchable with the constant interruptions, and they are only doing this to make money not provide quality content.

Google ruined YouTube and turned it into an ad-ridden sh*thole. I have a channel as well but they usually only have one ad, and are very short videos. Google got greedy also and barely pay you anything now, unless you become a full-time slave for them which most don't the have time or intention to do. I can understand a few ads here and there, but if you have that many it really detracts from the video and just makes you want to close it out, which I usually do.

The old YouTube was great, until Google ruined it and made it their billboard. Now instead of getting great content everything is made just to make money with ads and abuse it. Most do not make original content, they just steal others content and "react" to it so they can get hits off the search words. Like all those music videos they sit there and "react" to, and pause constantly to talk about it to avoid copyright. Which is the stupidest thing I ever saw. Maybe try getting some talent and original material instead?

Well, I specifically mentioned "uBlock Origin" because it is an open source project and has better reputation than most adblockers, some of which are indeed spywares.
I use it since many years and never got any issues (and much much less ads), so I find it difficult to classify it as a "junk program", to each his own I guess...

Well on my gaming PC I only install games and browse the internet so I do not install anything on it but games and patches, which already take up a lot of space. But I do have other systems I use, but I had my share of spyware and viruses long ago. Ever since I stopped putting "junk files" and "bloatware" on my systems though I have not had any since.

But I should not have to, or have to find a workaround for a horrible platform that was once great until a big company took it over and ruined it. The ads are also just another ploy to get you to pay for an "ad free YouTube" as well.
