Who makes the best quality devano style rising card deck? I know no one makes the style with the pin anymore and pretty much they all use a sticky pad.
From a construction point of view which deck available is the most reliable. |

A good product is "Martini rising cards" (to see at Martini's Magic).

This was undoubtedly due to the very poor construction of the gimmick. Honestly, they were utter tat - that I could never have used professionally. A proper Devano Pack needs PINS - not some folded piece of masking tape (that has to have a paper glue-stick regularly re-applied, in order to retain tackiness). http://www.richbark.com/m_closeup.html Is the only manufacturer that I'm aware of that uses the 'Old Skool' method. The fact you also get Don Alan's routine thrown in for free, is a fantastic bonus.

The chosen cards rose from the pack for about a third of their length - maximum. With a Devano Pack, the rise height is generally at least two thirds of the card's length. Given the effect is 'The Rising Cards', I do see this as a significant point - particularly when working for a larger group. 2. The use of adhesive paper is nowhere near as effective as the pin method - as used within a Devano Pack. Practicing with the Martini version, the piece of (what appeared to be) paper masking tape, required a dab of Pritt Stick on a few occasions. Without 100% reliable adhesion AT ALL TIMES, there is no way that I would have ever felt comfortable using it in a professional engagement. Rest assured, I wouldn't criticise a product simply for the sake of it - but the pack I purchased was bloody woeful. It was binned - I didn't even want to give it away to anyone at the club I belonged to at that time.

What’s the quality of the Richbark produced deck like, I’ve heard mixed reviews.

Like it or not, Martini makes a great, durable Devano deck. Could go through a war and still work.
