A friend is looking to buy a Losander floating table. Can anyone recommend which one they should purchase?

They all work exactly the same, that is, they all have the same gimmick.
I think that the main variable here might be what is the "look" of your show and which table best fits that look.

Also be warned that when you order from Losander, you will probably wait two to three months to get the item. Losander makes them all by hand himself. If his performing schedule is busy then there is less time to spend in the workshop (and his performing schedule is busy!).

Honestly, the best avenue is to find where and when Losander is lecturing and going there and see what is directly available from him on the spot, buying one that suit you, and taking it home with you. Losander will spend some time with you when, you buy one, to insure you know the fundamentals of the illusion.

The illusion is "a table (or stool) floats". That's it. A table floats. In the hands of Losander is is magical, beautiful, and amazing.

If you look at his listed tables the "Eclipse" is the heaviest looking table and has a round top. I had an early version that was destroyed following a performance (someone wanted to help and...) it was my go to table. I liked the round top, the overall "look" and the ease of handling (for me).

I then got and still have and use Losander's "Trinity". The table top was designed to be used for performing a few tricks (card or coin or small lightweight prop). I liked the look of the prop. So far it's weathered well and is still in pristine condition.

I went through a lot of pain getting the Trinity. It was almost 4 months from the time I ordered it to the time I had it in my hands. Losander's dad in Germany was the craftsman making them at that time.

I also have his basic "Original" table. I picked it up as a refinished trade-in for about half price. I practice with the original. I then rehearse and perform with the prop I'll use at the venue. Let me say, I've actually performed with the basic Original about 1/3 of the time. especially in the smaller venues (house parties, parlor, etc.). While the Original was supposed to be a refurbished model it took over two months to get sent to me. Losander is truly a busy man!!

Three tables and the effect and routine is exactly the same for each. A table floats.

from time to time Losnder advertises a modernistic version that looks as if it is made from highly polished metal. The metal look is metallic contact paper on the wood frame. , metal (looking) it looks good though and it works exactly as every other Losander table. I could see it in my show.

He makes a black table (the Onyx?) that will support a closeup case (or a dump box) that is nice and a pair would look nice on stage with you. Very unobtrusive for sure.

His floating Stool is a great prop, for the right venue. It is his strongest floating table prop. It will hold a little over 20 pounds. Yet it Does what every other Losander table does. It floats.

TLDR: Which one to buy? The basic "Original". It is comparatively inexpensive and goes on sale regularly. AND it does exactly what all the other tables do in exactly the same way.

Use it for a couple of years and see if the floating table illusion works for you. Then consider if a more expensive and/or different "look" is what you want.

Do your research. Keep tabs on the Cafe items for sale. Subscribe to Losander’s emails - every moth or so he has a unit at a fantastic price. And lastly, Don’t buy a Chinesevknock-off - believe me, you’ll be sorry. Losander considers himself an “artist”, and charges accordingly. But if you’re patient, you can find a nice table at a decent price.
