I believe they are being reprinted for the USPC Canasta game.

Firedice,
Correct. Unfortunately, the cards all have their Canasta point-values printed under all the indices (jokers too), the red threes have extra symbols under the indices, and the twos have "WILD!" written on their faces in large letters. Maybe someone can make an effect out of one or all of these features; personally I wish someone could afford to have the minimum run done, minus all the Canasta markings, and sell us the result. The Fan Back is my favorite design (I first saw it in Hay's Amateur Magician's handbook) and I really wish plain faces were available with the design.
There are many tricks, and many effects, but rarely a Grand Effect. There are many entertainers, but few real magicians. Many technicians, but few artists who use their art to explore their vision. - Derren Brown, Absolute Magic

I have the Canasta deck around here somewhere. I agree that it would be better without all the point values and "wild!" on the 2's. Oh well. I also got a deck of Racer Backs... Euchre, I think?

You should be able to order them directly from the US playing card company

Would it be possible to take some white paint or white out, and just cover the extra symbols and point values?

Not without changing the the way the cards fan and handle.

Ya, I have an original pack of these. If any one wants to buy them. Sealed and never used.

No card collector should go a day without knowing about http://www.52plusjoker.org It's one of the biggest card collecting clubs around.
