What you must understand, friend and foe, is that Steve Dusheck is but one of a growing group of men of the mind, who are going on strike. We are losing the input of our greatest resources, and it's our own *** fault.
It is as if he is Promethus who has taken back is fire, until man takes back his vultures! So let us, those of us who represent the future of this art, work to muzzle such vultures as we see here amongst us! The Nathan Kranzo's, friends. The problem goes deeper though. Half of you reading this are going to idolize the very vultures that are driving men of the mind out, or are going to act in the same manner or worse as these modern "heros". And as long as this continues, we will see our most brilliant creators stop sharing their creations with the magic communtiy. And we will have deserved it. |

Many great magicians from far and wide many of which know Steve personally or just have for years watched and bought his magic. They all know where he is coming from, and of his knowledge of magic and its History, He is not only a scholar but a gentleman. I would be willing to gamble he has forgotten more then you know and will ever know. If given a challenge he does not shrink away, if asked he is more then happy to assist anyone who needs his help.As he did in answering your question and fowarding you help, As a gentleman he will not get into a shouting match with you, he has nothing to prove and his friends and followers all know the truth. By the way who are you? Only GOD knows everything the rest of mankind is ignorant so where does that place you in the food chain.

I've seen young Mr. Kranzo and he is a very studious magician. Most people on this board could learn a thing or two from him.
Now to the issue at hand. I, like Mr. Chosse, got a modified shell gimmick from Presley. The difference, I think, is that I saw Presley working with this shell much, much earlier. Of course a lot of time has passed between now and then. I certainly could be remembering events out of order (wouldn't be the first time just ask my wife) but I think it was either 63, 64 or 65. Might actually have been earlier, seems Kennedy was still alive...well I guess I'm not much help but I know I saw Presley with it before 68. Paul do you remember when you first saw the thing? I do remember thinking when I saw Steve's effect that he had corresponded with Presley on it. I'm not here to argue with anyone over things that happened 40 years ago I'm just trying to get things straight in my mind. thanks for taking the time fellas, |

I do not know the name of Reeds routine but it is a matrix on the hand using a shell. In place of the shell I feel this is a good place for the slippery sam due to the wierd unnesting movement.
Crutis, could you please tell me the name of the routine. Thanks. |

I first saw the gimmick in '66, attributed to Steve. I remember because it was the year I bought Bobo, the new revised edition. It had just been published. I bought several things after Bobo, but not the half-rim shell. I had a limited budget and wanted multi-purpose items which, at the time, I thought included a regular shell, a C/S and an Okito Coin Box. So, as previously stated, the gaff in question was still on my wish-list when Pressley showed me his. That is as far back as I can remember, hope that helps...

Joe, I hear the routine you mentioned appears on the "McClintock Twist" video, but I'm not sure Reed gave it a title there.
He has referred to the assembly as "The Iron Cross", but I don't know if that's "official".

Mithrandir and Robert Sixx.
Before you go off on Nathan Kranzo, whom I also see getting upset here, I believe Mr. Dusheck should clarify his mistake that he made in his original post. This is where the debate began and where Mr. Dusheck starts talking about being taken advantage of. I think Nathan Kranzo is correct in saying that he never contacted Mr. Dusheck, nor does he do any effect that resembles Mr. Dusheck's c/s transpo with a slippery sam gimmick. Mr. Dusheck has Nathan Kranzo confused with another magician. I'm guessing that Nathan doesn't feel the need to explain himself here, that is his right, but I feel Mr. Dusheck should set the record straight because Nathan is taking some flack here that has literally nothing to do with him. And no, I wasn't paid to post this. Nathan, I hope you approve of me posting this. I figured all this out on my own. Also it's too bad that Mr. Dusheck and the other magician couldn't work anything out because that effect is the coolest c/s transpo effect I have ever seen. Anyone who has seen it will agree. The handling is remarkable and startling. JJ |

Johnny,
You are right. I do owe Nathan an apology. I did get him mixed up with another magician. I have been trying to figure out how it happened and honestly can't do it. Todd Lassen sent me an e-mail naming the magician I confused Nathan with and the guys name didn't even ring a bell. I would have apologized without your assistance Johnny, but I took some time away from magic to visit my daughter. Nathan I am sincerely sorry for the confusion. Best wishes, Steve

Do you have any of Nate's materials, Sixx? He has some extremely clever, commercial routines. Quoting him and then replying "doubtful" makes you look rather childish and immature to be honest.

as I see it kranzo is being childish in almost all these posts here! kind of childish to defend him by saying "do you have his stuff?" that's like saying "hes creative so its ok for him to be total jerk" its ok for basketball players to force themselves on women... their talented! c'mon don't be dumb.

I think this entire issue has been a misunderstanding that got WAY out of hand. I see Steve's post a few above this one, where he clearly states that he had mistaken Nate for someone else, as "J. Jones" pointed out as well.
Nate's honor appears to be intact. He was accused of doing something that he knew full well he didn't do, so I doubt he lost any sleep over it. Steves honor also appears to be intact, he apologized for making an error. I'm not sure why anyone feels the need to keep bashing and/or insulting anyone else here. It was a mistake... and mistakes happen. Even I've been known to make one or two Best, Mike |

I'm curious about Nathan's use of the gaff(s) and what routines he's designed that make killer use of the things.
We need to get beyond this 'pride of discovery' stuff as we look at routines and try to make the best use of the resources we've inherited from our predecessors and mentors. The folks involved in the writing and publishing of new material have the job of making sure the crediting is right and nobody gets snubbed or stepped on. Folks who want to get their material out are also responsible for making sure they are not jumping claims or tipping ideas they were shown but not given permission to discuss with the community at large.

I apologize to Mr. Kranzo, as well, for in this instance, it seems he was wrongly accused.
Does this mean though that his DVD does not have routines with Steve's gaff on them? I'm confused on that one. Did he get permission for those? Or was the person who posted saying that several routines could be found on Kranzo's DVD incorrect? Unfortunately, from my public treatment of Mr. Kranzo, and his private treatment of me, I doubt we're likely to become friends. If I ever get to a convention, though, I'll certainly see you up on your offer, Mr. Kranzo. |

It has the gimmick and no permission. do you ask permission for using something like that?
kranzo shouldnt need permission after this much time but he should have been more polite and the way he acts is like saying he wouldnt have cared if it WAS an issue, like if we were talking about U3F. what would he say then? "Sorry BOB there was a gimmick called slippery sam kind of like yours a LONG time ago so quit whining. besides, TODD made these you had nothing to do with it"

I'm still waiting for a report that the basic gaff has been extended, or layered so you can do some very card-like stuff with the coin set.
* also, I have not yet seen Nathan's DVD so can't comment on his crediting.
