Richard Busch! Welcome to the Cafe.
BTW, your book Peek Performances is excellent and very eye-opening (pardon the pun). It should be in every mentalist's (current or aspiring)library. To get back to subject, I have always been partial to predictions, especially the kind that predict some sort of action or choice made by the spectator. There is just something about pre-cognition that gets me excited. It ties into all those prophesy myths that everyone talks about.

It is the "sponge ball" experience for the mentalist e.g. a highly interactive impossability that creates intimacy. I don't know how many times I've watch Glen doing his act or Keskin or even John Edward doing this kind of bit and seeing a room of hundreds or even thousands literally crying, and giving themselves a headache, in the attempt to "send" their information to the performer. It's almost as emotional as a good tent revival I'll also support the idea that Blindfold type routines come in as a close second, on the issue of "All Time Classic Effects in Mentalism". Like the Q&A however, the simplicity of the technology oft times confounds the performer and creates a sense of "fear" and trepidation. It takes an exceptional SHOWMAN to "sell" either of these bits to the level Richard is sharing with us in the aforementioned post. When you, as an individual, reach that level of "perfection" you can have the biggest neon light board disclaiming you want and folks (including the skeptics) will give you credit as being "The closest thing to the real thing they've ever encountered." I believe that's our goal... it's mine at least... I want them to see just how "real" a "fake" psychic can appear.
