Cannon's Great Escapes
Great source for both books on straitjacket escapes, and almost any type of straitjacket you might want to use. Steve

I was trained by Dixie Dooley. I would advise you to get a DVD on straitjacket escapes. There are few out there. I would also try to find someone that is close to you that has done an escape from a jacket. The other question is do you want to use a gimmicked one or a regulation jacket? I would start with a gimmicked one that way you will know that you can escape. After you have done that for awhile then go to a real one. Steve is right about Cannons they do have a lot of stuff you can also check out Stevens magic they also have some stuff.

I spent about $150 for a real posey straight jacket. Ittakes careful work to "gimmick" it for escapes. I don't know if an acomplished escapeologist can get out of a real one because there are three loops that take teh arm straps. Makes it impossible to lift thearms over your head which is teh key move. But a sharp razor and teh loops are history. No one in teh real world ever sees a real one.

There have been many posts on this subject. I suggest doing a search through the archives.
Regulation means you have something that can be examined and gives you a sense of achievement since you have learnt something that many who perform an SJ escape can't actually do. Gimmicked, as said earlier , means you have no real work other than making it look hard. R

Why gimmick a posey with the loops it has been escaped from with the loops intact. I for one don't like gimmicked stuff but I am in the process of getting some. for safety sake. if you don't want the belts on a posey try a humane. Don,

I suggest the real thing with all of the loops. It is escapable. Remember that part of getting out, is how you get in.

I have no idea how to get out of an ungimmicked straight. Todd Robbins uses an ungaffed one but no one seems to see teh straps and use them. I have NOT had that luck

The main way to get out is Practice Practice Research and Luck.

I started with a Humane Restraint Co. jacket, which I used for years. It finally wore out.
I then got a DeVal Straitjacket Sensation on a bargain deal, and have been using it ever since. Steve
