So I went to NEMCON, again!

NEMCON is a day and a half con in Trumbull, CT. It was held on March 7 and 8. This year, I managed the trip up and back better than last year when I came close to disaster on several occasions.

The con officially starts on Fri., at 7:30. The Toronto Magic Company came in and did an opening show. After that was a lecture on business with Jonah Babins. His basic argument was; "Be overworked and underpaid until you make enough of a name that you can raise your fees." and "If you're going to work for free, make sure you can cover it with a photographer and get a letter of appreciation from the venue afterwards, which you'll put in your website."

After that was a "Close Up Jam." I had dinner, and went to bed as I had a gippy tummy. (I'd eaten a lot of junk during the day. Dinner was an awesome cheeseburger with fries, but I couldn't stay up late."

The next day was an Opening Gala Show, followed by lectures by Blake Vogt. Blake had shown us a clever mechanism to have four cards folded up in a way that you could reach the chosen card in a flash. (He also showed a loader that would hold each of the four card packets, until you arranged to figure out which value the spectator had chosen.

Following Blake... and lunch... was Ben Train and Jonah Babins. Followed by Dan Harlan who showed some mentalism.

Then a dinner break, and the Stars of Magic Gala Show. Then one more night in the very comfortable hotel room, and I left to come home on Sunday morning. Only problem with the return trip was I got there way TOO early, and then the train was delayed for an hour!

All in all, I'd say I got my money's worth, and I'll be looking to go again next year. Maybe a "VIP" ticket can be worked out.

I had SO MUCH FUN hanging out with all of you at Nemcon.

I stayed up waaaay too late jamming every night. Which... was awesome!

I can't wait to be back!
If you're reading this you're my favourite magician.

I'll go back, at 70, I'm not good at staying up late. I probably miss quite a bit. But I love what I've seen so far.
