Thank you. They're concerned about her red blood cell count now and might want to send her back to RI Hospital for blood. Tjis is turning into an episode of "House!"

You and your wife definitely have my prayers. Having been through similar situations I can definitely empathize.

By the way, "thought and prayers" is not just a euphemism for me. I stopped typing to spend time talking to God about your situation.

I wonder if some of the seeming rise in health mysteries is related to COVID messing with our biology?

Still pulling for you that they figure this out. After my fungus experience I think PTSD from our medical system is real.

Ed, is she Anemia? I ask because my wife has leg problems and last year while in the hospital they found out she was Anemia. That can cause problems that doctors often overlook.

She has very poor iron count in her blood. She can't donate, it's so bad. I don't know if that's a cause or not. It pre-dates her diabetes.

Yeah I think that’s part of being an anemia. Maybe she will get some new blood and that will pick her up some. Prayers are with you.

OK. Major disaster. Her insurance runs out 8/1. As of 8/1, they will be charging us $250 a day to continue to stay. Needless to say, we don't HAVE $250 to spare, much less the $5,000 that works out to for her to stay until the 20th. We're taking her out tomorrow. On a related note. On Monday the 4th, exterminators will come to spray for roaches! I have no idea what we're going to do! Smile

It's awful about her insurance. I will pray that she regains it. It's essential. I should know because I temporarily lost my own health insurance a few months ago. I think it was due to a hacker but not sure. Anyway after a month I got my insurance restored, just in time to cover my medication.
Having had the same experience as you, further impels me to pray for your wife's insurance.

She hasn't "lost" her insurance. They are simply saying there's no more money for her. All the prayers in the world won't change that. But thanks for the sentiment.

Thank you. But as far as I can see, we've run out of options!

I haven't heard anything today. My HOPE is that they let her stay, and then bill us the $5,000 at the end of the month. We could pay it off over time.

And it just gets BETTER, people! She had a massive blood count problem (she has had low blood counts most of her life) and they've sent her to Roger Williams Hospital for a blood transfusion! As that's not "physical therapy," I'm sure United Healthcare will still cover it. The woman has not been home for more than a couple of days since JUNE!

Does the facility have a financial assistance program you can apply to?

I hadn't thought of that. It seems to me that the facility would have brought that up to her upon telling her that she was going to be charged as of the 1st.

For those of you still following this; (and, specifically critter, since he asked) she is back in the facility after a major Charlie Foxtrot of almost BIBLICAL proportions.

She was at Roger Williams, she got the blood transfusion, and was supposed to be returned by 12:00. After 12:30, she asked someone when she was going to be released? "Oh, we're putting together paperwork to get you admitted! So you can get your transfusion." Explaining that she'd RECEIVED her transfusion already, the nurse wandered off and it was HOURS before anyone could get it sorted out. She ended up back at the Elmhurst facility after 3! (Too much longer, and they would have released her bed. Which my daughter believes may have been the idea!)

NOW, now that she is back. She is being charged $250 a day for her presence. The Business Office is trying to get something going with Medicare to pick up the slack United Healthcare dropped. If THAT works, she stays until the 20th. If not, she leaves in a few days and owes $250 for each day she stayed from today on.
