Mnemonica Tamariz stack Solar System as 13 Loci

To properly understand this thread and use the Solar System as a memory palace it is best to understand my historic/famous names as aliases for the playing cards. See the following link:

https://www.themagiccafe.com/forums/view......orum=205

Note that I have another earlier thread about using the Solar System as Loci but this thread has several changes that make it much better than the earlier thread imo.

This Solar System Loci technique uses the Dominic O'Brien PA (Person, Action) method. Note that I believe that there are much better methods to memorize a mem deck but this method was fun and interesting so I am sharing it here. It is pretty good at getting "next card" knowledge but pretty slow at knowing "position in stack" knowledge.

Because this Solar System method is so different it does not mess up my brain's memory of the Aronson stack or the Tritium stack (my two primary stacks that I have memorized).

The Solar System 13 Loci are:

The Sun
Planet Mercury
Planet Venus
Planet Earth
The Moon
The planet Mars
The Asteroid Belt
The planet Jupiter
The planet Saturn
The planet Uranus
The planet Neptune
The planet Pluto
Haley's Comet

Below is the solar system memory palace with 13 Loci and 4 playing cards on each Loci (in Tamariz Mnemonica order). Note that each Loci (planet) has an offset number to help determine the position number within the deck of the cards so these offset numbers should also be memorized.

0 Sun:
Leprechaun (4C), zapping (2H), Tom Brady (7D), choking (3C)

4 Mercury:
Ringo Starr (4H), frowning (6D) at, Red Baron (AS) shooting kryptonite (5H) bullets from his airplane at

8 Venus:
Julie Newmar (9S), magnifying glass (2S), looking at Dolly Parton (QH), biting (3D)

12 Earth:
Joan of Arc (QC), whispering (8H), to Popeye (6S), Vulcan salute (5S)

16 Moon:
Colonel Klink (9H), handcuffing (KC), General Patton (2D), pointing up (JH)

20 Mars: on Olympus Mons 20 km high: Godzilla (3S), snowballing (8S), Miley Cyrus (6H) swinging on a wrecking ball and, hitting snowballs with a bowling pin (10C) and the bowling pin flies loose from her hand and towards the asteroid belt hitting Magic Johnson in the head

24 Asteroid Belt: 24 hours a day the asteroid belt is in view somewhere on Earth:
Magic Johnson (5D), blowing smoke (KD), at Fred Flintstone (2C), bugling (3H) toward Jupiter and Thor's ear

28 Jupiter:
The number 28 is on the Giant red spot, and just below the red spot is:
Thor (8D), Sything (5C), Henry VIII (KS), on pyramids (JD)

32 Saturn:
On the 32 rings of Saturn (note that the chunks of ice in the rings look like molar teeth):
Goliath (8C), shepherd hook (10S) around, Elvis (KH), unbuckling (JC) his belt and swinging it at the Samurai sword on Uranus

36 Uranus:
Samurai (7S), oiling (10H), Randy Johnson (Ace of Diamonds), with red laser (4S) jabbing through the legs of the Seven Dwarfs on Neptune

40 Neptune: 40-year-old god of sea Neptune:
Pretend planet Neptune is wet, blue and in the rain:
7 Dwarfs (7H), marrying Elizabeth Taylor (4D), Tiger Woods (Ace Clubs) is preacher (Bible in one hand and huge baseball bat in the other hand) hitting ball over the fence (9C) and the ball hits JFK on the planet Pluto

44 Pluto (dog Pluto has 4 and 4 above ears):
Envision the dog Pluto on planet Pluto but JFK (JS) is sitting on dog's back, holding hands (QD) with his buddy Frank Sinatra (7C) who can't sing because he is eating cake (QS) and taking pieces of cake and throwing it at the tennis player on Halley's comet and the pieces of cake are stuck in the webbing of the tennis racket.

48 Haley's Comet: returns every 48 years (not true but pretend - also can say people from the 48 states get very frightened when they see Halley's comet):
Comets have two tails and tennis player Chris Evert (10D) is sitting on one tail and spraying rust (6C) on a Cupid (AH) who is playing a bagpipe (9D) who is on the other tail.

Chris Evert has a rust colored can of spray paint and is spraying rust all over Cupid and Cupid's bagpipe).

The bagpipe music causes the Leprechaun on the Sun to start dancing (this completes the sequential aspect of the Solar System memory palace loop).

Note that the reason I associate "rust" with a Shiva statue is that I originally used Rusty Staub (a baseball player) who had played for six clubs to represent the playing card Six of Clubs, but I had too many baseball players in use and also the image of Shiva waving six arms I liked better to represent the Six of Clubs. I did not like the action word "waving arms" that I was using with Shiva because that action word is very generic and could mistakenly be associated with any person. I do like the action word "rust" because it is very unique and can be easily associated with a metal statue. Also I was successfully spraying "rust" onto Cupid in conjunction with Haley's Comet and did not want to rewire my brain for that.

Note that on planet Earth I have changed out Joan of Arc to now be Laila Ali (boxing queen).

I believe that Dominic O'Brien originally used 26 Loci to mentally store two cards PA (Person, Action) on each Loci. I believe that later he revised his method to use 13 Loci and mentally store four playing cards on each Loci by doing PAPA.

This is the technique I am using with the Solar System as the 13 Loci. I have added an offset number to the visual image for each planet that makes the determination of the position of every playing card possible.

When a playing card is named the magician mentally brings up the image of the "planet" and it's offset number and the PAPA (the four playing cards) on that planet. The magician knows the position within the group of four (1 or 2 or 3 or 4) and simply adds that number to the planet's offset number.

Example: on Venus there is JULIE NEWMAR (Catwoman), with a magnifying glass looking at, DOLLY PARTON, who is biting.

If a spectator named say the Two of Spades then I would mentally know that it was the 2nd card (the magnifying glass) on Venus therefore I would add 2 to the Venus offset of 8 and thus know the Two of Spades is in the 10th position.

IMO this technique is not as good (at performance time) as memory techniques that directly tie a position number to the playing card but this Solar System Mnemonica technique was fun to do and at a magicians' gathering I can borrow a fellow magician's Mnemonica deck to do some acaan tricks for them (kind of showing off ie: ego trip).

FYI:
I used an Ai to generate each of the 13 colorful images with the appropriate planet in the background.

I then brought each image into "Google Draw" and used the Tt text feature to put the planet offset number onto the image (usually in the upper left corner).

I "copyPasted" these images onto one Google Doc and then I printed off the Google Doc (13 colorful images - two images per page ie: 7 pages) and pasted them into a cheap hardbound book from Goodwill (or Dollar tree book could be used).

I used Ai to create an appropriate titled front cover sheet for the book and pasted it on the front outside of the book.

By looking through the book at the 13 images once a week the Tamariz Mnemonica deck is easy to remember.
