Back Palming and Front Palming,

of a single card.

: )

. . . . . . . . . .

I'm reading Servais Le Roy's Biography/Auto-biography, in the moment;
and find it fascinating,
the description, of his early Shows ..
where he was producing,
then vanishing a single card.
...claiming to be the first, to perform the feat,
after learning the technique, personally,
from Doc Elliot.

There is a lot of talk, in the text,..
about "the correct technique".

About a lot of 'nuances',..
without ever mentioning anything specific.

Cardini, also mentioned this,
in his only meeting with Max Malini.

Max fully baffled him...
with his card palming.

What ARE the 'finer points'?

What should I be ... 'trying for'? ... avoiding?

I'm thinking of 'doing' just ONE card ...
then 'hang it' ...
or 'rise it'. ala Thurston.

But first .. . the Palming.

Any,..'Top' recommended sources, of schooling?

Finer points, and/or tips?

Thanks in advance.

Thanks Ken(!).
..maybe I've posted, in the 'wrong' Forum. ????

I'm working with Henry Hayes' 'Amateur Magicians Handbook'.

He mentions, SPECIFICALLLY(????), with this move:

"It's over-done, out of fashion,...but probably will come back...someday."

Therefore, he goes about 're-teaching' it.

Performing 'it', as slowly, as Malini or Thurston, or his mentor T. Nelson Downs

is real magic(!).

Tricky....

We'll see ...

hopefully, the audience WON'T(!).

Still working on it....

Take care Ken!

My opinion here should not count for much.
I worked on this a lot as a teen - and became "adequate."

Today, I can hardly deal cards without dropping some. For magic effects I need something more solid than cards.

Point is, what is your objective compared with the price? Who is your intended audience for this skill set?

Hi Ken(!), sorry I've missed 'this'(!),...'till now!

Actually, I'm NOT planning on using 'cards',..Playing Cards. : )

I'm playing with the idea of: playing card sized,...plastic.
White on one side,..Black, on the other.

I'm after an 'eye candy', magical effect.

The production.
Vanish,
Production.
Colour-change/Colour-change.
Vanish.
. . .
Production.
Boomerang throw ... twice or thrice.
Vanish.

?
...maybe a 'hand to hand' 'magical' ... toss/catch/toss ...(?)

In any case. Eye Candy.
Calm. Visual. MAGICAL(!)
Beginning wirh 'nothing'. Ending with 'nothing'.

Watcha think?

You might want to look at "The Stage Card Magic of Salvano". It is a DVD made by Salvano shortly before he passed away. His techniques are slightly different than found on the excellent McBride videos. It (and others) are sold by his son at:

https://www.salvano-jr.com/dvd-salvano.php

You also might also look into Tony Clark's video on card manipulation:

https://www.tonyclarkmagicstore.com/prod......pulation

Vernet (the thumb tip guys) put out a nice set including two decks of cards (exhibition fans deck and manipulation set) with a good training DVD: (This is carried by most magic stores and even Amazon. Here's a link so you can check out the advertising):

https://www.penguinmagic.com/p/S20332

There are more tutorials out there, but between McBride and the few I've given you should have more than enough instruction to build the routine you want. They are pretty basic.

And just for fun, here is a clip of one of my all time favorite manipulators the fantastic Buka doing his act, enjoy:

Hey guys(!),
I REALLY appreciate the advice!

I have to admitt,
I was always 'afraid', of Jeff McBride's 'Tombe'!
because of the depth(!).
...the amount of informations,,.in ALL directions,.,he offers.

I'm scared .. I'll drown(!).
...i know me(!..!).
Put me in front, of a doughnut stand,..
and I wanna taste 'em all!

Harry(!), thanks for the 'Buka clip' tip!
*** wOw!..!! ***
I DID(!) enjoy! : )
REALLY Great. Thanks.

( I'd seen him, 'assisting' the Juggler, Buba,,
but NEVER knew what 'he' did.
Fantastic!
They must have been a really fun team. )

My 'bottom line'...
I am going to pick up Jeff McBride's Volume 2

David(!),..THANK YOU(!), for providing the Table of Contents!
