Kevin Kelly and Randy Wakeman have carefully written and illustrated some of their favorite and most effective Marlo routines and sleights, and published them all under one cover. These are rock-solid, audience tested and approved pieces that you will treasure. This is the first fresh look at Ed Marlo and his stunning card magic in over four decades. Ed Marlo 40 Years Later contains stories and information that you will not find anywhere else.
From the Foreword by Bill Malone: "It isn’t often these days that you meet people who truly knew Marlo and stood by him as loyal confidants. Randy Wakeman and Kevin Kelly are two of those rare people. Their bond with Ed was real, lasting, and filled with respect. This tribute to Marlo has been long overdue and I can’t think of two better people to bring it to life than Randy and Kevin. Inside these pages, you will find more than magic. Yes, you’ll discover wonderful routines and carefully chosen Marlo miracles. Yes, you’ll pick up many sleights and ideas. But more importantly, you’ll be welcomed into the atmosphere of Ed’s world." It is sometimes not easy to really clearly access Marlo, from some of his books. When I read about this, it seems like
a must have for anyone interested in one of the greatest card men of all of history. I feel so lucky that Wakeman and Kelly are willing to do such a monumental work. Wow!!!!!!! I never expected to have this chance to readily access more of Marlo's genius. I feel blessed, literally. |

I have had the pleasure of witnessing some of the material from Ed Marlo Forty Years Later and was completely fooled. The collector's routine contained in the book is one of the finest ever created. I highly recommend that you immediately purchase a copy of the the aforementioned book as copies will be going fast. A future classic.

Everything is on track, as the books are all printed, bound, and shrink-wrapped.

In assembling and writing up the material for this book, the goal was to produce one single book of platinum Ed Marlo material that I dearly wish I had back in 1970 or so: commercial Marlo magic that fools thoroughly in order to entertain completely. This project has also brought back a flood of very happy memories. |

I don't get what this is, other than a Marlo book. Ed was one of the most prolific writers on card magic ever. I do not understand which effects are in the book and if these are simple copies of those or if they are how the authors do them?
I am not trying to be critical at all here. The subject is an unquestionable giant in the art. Randy has a history of writing very well. I do not doubt the quality of the offering, only that I am not certain what is being offered.

I don't believe either of us asked for a review. Rather I think more of a contents page or some such thing. Is it your work on Marlo's work or is it reprints of his tricks straight up? Either of those is a great thing. I don't think these things are reviews but more what is in the book.
And respectfully, why should I have to go contact others about what is in your book? Wouldn't it be easier for you, who are here sort of doing a pitch for the book, to answer some simple questions?

I really don't want to seem as if I am badgering you or being aggressive. No need to answer the questions. Thank you for responding.

Hardly a "pitch," this is an announcement of a brand new book for those that might be interested. I've been a member here since 2001: yet this is my first new product announcement. You can expect an announcement of a new book from me every twenty-four years or so, like it or not. This is the first new book on my friend Ed Marlo's magic in over forty-two years. Many consider this tribute to Ed Marlo the finest collection of Eddie's commercial magic ever written, with several routines, sleights, and handlings seeing print inside these covers for the very first time.
I've divided my Marlo sections into four chapters. The initial section, “Marlo Mysteries,” contains what I feel are exceptional Marlo routines, suitable for most all formal or semi-formal performing conditions. In perusing the following Marlo-centric pieces, it occurred to me that they are not exactly what some might expect … and that's a good thing. None of these routines require any gaffs or gimmicks. There are no arduous set-ups involved, most require no advance preparation of any kind. Every routine can be performed with a deck of cards shuffled by the audience, at any time of your choosing, at any slot in your performance you desire. None are particularly difficult to perform well. Every routine is a practical, commercial piece of Magic, easy to follow from the audience's perspective, and all result with a clear finale. Ed was terrific at reading the room, always finding the right level of sophistication most appropriate for his audience. The second chapter is “When the Time is Right.” These routines are generally for more specialized circumstances. A few are “quickies” that are all in the hands, requiring no working surface at all, while others are more suited as after dinner routines, or for small groups. When the time is right, you'll find that they are extremely valuable tools to have in your magical tool box. The third chapter is “Marlo Moves.” A criticism of some books is when several moves are referenced but not fully described. Although basic card technique of the reader is assumed, this is a selection of Ed Marlo's sleights and moves that are not widely known and are included here for the sake of completeness. The fourth chapter is “Marlo Stories.” These are a few of my favorite mementos with Eddie. No one has read these stories before. If you like card magic, you will love this book. |

That's helpful information. Sounds like the "moves" section would make it a pretty complete work.

Isn’t that just cut and paste from the web page to sell the book?
Come on at some point this is a pitch right?

Moderators. If you are going to redact these posts then this should simply be a paid advertisement. I intend on purchasing this book, however it I was placed on a forum where we can discuss and ask questions. Whether they choose to answer them or not is their choosing, but to edit posts that were not accusatory or derogatory is unfair who require the information to decide whether we want part with our money..
