I bought a plastic deck of cards (Eric Chien Feather Deck, manufactured by 808 Magic Cards). I bought a single deck from Eric at a TAOM Conference a couple of years ago. They still handle like new! I love the deck for how it handles, but I don't like the muted colors on the faces. I have seen other plastic decks for sale, but these seem like cheap cards for kids, not magicians.

I did a google search, but can't find who produces these cards. Does anyone know of a high quality plastic deck with faces that look vibrant, like standard USPCC Bicycle Decks?

Here is a link to the deck I am talking about.

Hi Rick!
I've never tried the one you're mentioning, but I tried this one:

They faro well and handle smoothly, I was extremely impressed.

Rick,

You want to track down a few decks of Bicycle Prestige plastic playing cards. From a few inches away you can't tell they're not regular Bikes. Obviously you can tell when you're handling them, but your audiences many not realize it if you don't let them touch the cards.

One Prestige card in a regular pack of Bikes (or vice versa) also opens up some interesting applications.

I'd also recommend Steve Dela's Night Flight Deck Pro, especially if you're looking for a marked deck that looks relatively innocent. He has some great products in this range. The card faces are not standard; they have been designed to be bright, bold, and visible even on stage.

I was really into Prestige cards for a long time but there are some drawbacks. They can be clumpy and loud. But besides that they are obviously very durable and have a nice softness to them. If you keep them in the box they come in it's pretty bulky and not as durable as the cards. But I have one pack that's almost as old as my oldest kid and it's still holding up.

One more drawback of the Prestige's (and other plastic cards) is they don't hold bent shapes if anyone does things that rely on that.

But like I said, it is nice to have a couple of decks that aren't spent after a few hours and that are impervious to weather. I have literally dropped these in mud and wiped them clean.

Thanks to all who responded. I have ordered some of the decks. Hopefully they will be as good as the Eric Chien Feather decks.

Years ago I purchased several decks of the Bicycle® New Era decks. They look exactly like regular Rider backs. All plastic. Great cards. Smile

Hard to find now...maybe on eBay?

I like that they have a normal-ish box.

Found this video of them being handled, but it's almost 20 years old...

Steve,

I'm pretty sure this is what eventually became Bicycle Prestige cards. I have both and I would struggle to tell them apart.

They did look in the video to have the same thickness. The advantages would seem to be the box and the back design. The Prestiges I have are a way different back design. Unless they changed that, mine are pretty old.

All the prestige decks being sold now has the rider back design.... it comes in red blue and black... Btw, is anyone interested in hand cut stripper decks made with plastic cards like Kem, Piatnik, bicycle prestige??? Not your typical store bought strippers....if interested, shoot me a message... thanks!
