I rarely need a pinkie count, so trying to pinkie count 2 cards reliably is hit or miss for me, but something I'm currently learning is forcing me in that direction. Last night I figured out, by accident, that if I insert a casual overhand shuffle into the routine, it is much easier to get the two card pinkie break. I can use the action of squaring the deck to get the work done. It looks great and is much easier. I realize this might not work if you can't shuffle in that moment or if you need more than a few cards, but for some purposes this will be my new "go to".

Like the faro shuffle, the pinky count is a move where I've never made much progress (in spite of many attempts). It's still on my list to learn, but so far down I'm sure I'll never live that long.

When I can't use a spread to get a break, I use the Lorayne lift, beveling the deck.

I consider the bevel my (not-so-)secret weapon. There are few sleights that don't become easier when you add a bevel. Smile
