For the type of stuff I like to do, I guess I would pick Psychological Subtleties by Banachek. But this is a super hard question!

That's really a tough question. The one book would be Purloined Thought by Al Mann.

Red Hot Cold reading. If this counts for mentalism.

Corinda - 13 Steps to Mentalism
Purely because of the number of effects it has in it. They could spark off a lot of ideas by themselves also. -Francisco

This is a tough call, but for its wealth of effects and practicality, which means you can hit the ground running, I have to choose 'Stunners Plus'.

Probably Corinda's 13 Steps, because almost everything I do mentalism-wise has some link to the stuff in here.
But everyone else is right. This question is incredibly hard. |

BTW, I would also have to say 13 Steps. Right now I only own four mentalism books, so it was a fairly easy choice for me.

Ah, this is hard. It is not the same as saying, 'If your house was burning down what would you choose?', because you'd choose the rarest or most expensive. But for this I would have to say either 13 Steps or the Mind and Magic of David Berglas.

Wow, that's difficult. Well, Corinda's 13 Steps or Anneman's Practical Mental magic is considered the two bibles. However, you would immediately like to make it timely. The CT's and different peeks can always be put into use.
If you are a beginner I would start there. However, if you are more experienced in performing (e.g., magic or theater), I would buy SYZYGY first five volumes (edited by Lee Earle), because it contains several masterpieces from a broad range of mentalists - meaning you will be presented for different styles and methods. You should consider DVDs as well. May I suggest Max Maven, Videomind Vol 1, Richard Osterlind's Mind Mysteries Vol 1 and 2, and Banachek PSI series vol 1 and 2. There you will find really great effects to start out with. |
