Hello all.
I'm interested in learning users' first hand experience with Alan Wong's Super Magnetic Himber and/or JOL Large Himber wallets. Pros and cons. Construction quality, etc. I am familiar with the construction and materials of the JOL Plus Large wallet, so I have that as a quality basis. |

I checked out some reviews. It is a little larger than a normal wallet, but being able to allow spectators to open the wallet is an incredible feature. I would assume not so many have bought this due to price, but I have only seen very positive reviews.

Sorry I was referring to the Wong super magnetic Himber. It seems like that is the way to go based on reviews, imho.

The problem is there are no comparisons available from users of both Himber wallets.
Furthermore, there are no pictures of the Wong Magnetic Himber other than the stock exterior front. Also, the price differential is significant. |

The other problem is a himber wallet looks like a strange magician’s prop and most aren’t very deceptive in design or handling. Might I suggest a double ended Piatt envelope over a wallet

I’m just looking to do a simple money printing effect from Al Schneider. This doesn’t need to be sufficient for professional walk around or a Fool Us appearance.

GJo,
You are asking for opinions on two top large Himber wallets. They are expensive, but when you countered this with, "doesn’t need to be sufficient for professional walk around or a Fool Us appearance," it seems you are asking for two things. I agree with Paul above, that a large Himber wallet looks like a prop and you shouldn't expect it to be deceptive. Which is why I will give you a strange answer: either buy the Wong locking Himber, which a spectator can open, thus elevating the amount of deception. If not, just go on Ebay and get you a decent but lower priced Himber for the quick routine you suggested. What I am saying, is you might either pay for being more deceptive (Wong locking wallet), or just enjoy a more moderately priced Himber....... but only you can make the choice, hehe. |

Regarding benefits of a wallet with magnets, any magic wallet can be made more safe for spectator’s to handle using a couple well placed neodymium magnets and possibly ferrous shims. Put one in a card slot, or glued on a business or playing card, and another magnet (or a steel shim) placed in a pocket and the unwanted flap will not open freely.
In my mind, there’s no need to pay $75 for a wallet with magnets built in. Lastly, no one who has commented here has shared any direct experience with either of these wallets. |
