Daisy White was the stage name of Gertrude Nickerson (1875–1957), a vaudeville performer, dancer, magician’s assistant, and demonstrator associated with figures like Frank Ducrot, Servais LeRoy, and Martinka’s Magic Shop in New York City
She died on July 20, 1957, and was buried in St. Michael’s Cemetery (also referred to as St. Michaels Cemetery) in East Elmhurst, Queens, New York. Her grave was unmarked for decades. In 2017, a new headstone was placed on the grave. It is inscribed with both “Daisy White” (her stage name) and her real name “Gertrude Nickerson 1875–1957,” along with references to her as a “Vaudeville Dancer” and her associations with magicians. Does anyone know who paid for the headstone and anything else about her?
