I'm looking at creating a routine and want to use a pull for an 18" silk.
I'm looking at the Viking Unique, the DeKolta, the Vernet Universal, and some other ones that are just wooden or plastic balls. Does anyone ever use one? Have you had success with one of these with an 18 inch silk? Thank you! |

Levi~. I recommend the viking UNIQUE silk pull. Cylindrical rather than egg shaped, it fits in my hand well, will hold an 18" and lies flatter underneath my suit. Threy are flesh colored, but I repainted it matte black. I am most pleased with it!

I have one made by Steve Myers Magic that is quite good. You can order it in flesh color or black (mine is black).

Oh yes, the shape of Steve's is quite nice: slightly conical, so it vanishes nicely. My only objection is that it is a little thick walled, which reduces the space for the silk. |

Thanks David!
I've haven't used a pull since my first magic set at 12 years old. Does anyone have any hints for hook up? I'll be looking at my Rice encyclopedias to. Just wondering if anyone has some "in the trenches" suggestions. |

Steve Myers suggest attaching it to the back of a jacket between the shoulder blades. This means you can use it with either the left or right hand. I sew a metal ring to the jacket on the inner seam line. Now I attach a snap clip to the end of the pull. So I can remove the pull from the jacket at any time, and re-attach it to the exact same spot every time... no pin required!.

It really depends on how you want to use it, including getting into action. Also, it depends on whether e______c or a r__l is being used. As JNeal points out, center of the shoulder allows for either side operation. With this approach, you can also put it in the inside coat pocket for bringing into action. Another useful position is the center of rear pants at waist. Then it can be put through belt loops to just behind the hip on either side. You can also do this and have it hang down to where it is just above bottom of coat line for easy retrieval.
Have you considered a "loop" vs. a "bucket" for an in-the-hand silk vanish? You can get it into position just like with a Raven. See start of routine here: For an 18" silk you may have it fold it for a visual vanish. |

I have my pull attached to my coat at mid level. I tuck the pull into the waist band of my pants. It's easy to just lift the pull when needed. Sometimes I use an old ruse of using a tt with a piece of silk attached inside. After actually vanishing the silk, I pull up the piece of silk giving the impression that the silk is still in the hand. The normal tt move is used
