I have no interest in AI analyzing my performance or creating my show or my marketing materials. There are plenty of performers and teachers out there willing to watch performance footage and provide feedback, and I am incredibly tired of the AI marketing I see so many magicians using, which you can spot from a mile away as it all looks the same. It's not hard to put together some simple artwork or a reel using basic software. If you don't know how, there are lots of sources that can teach you the basics. Learn a new skill. It's rewarding, I promise!

As a television writer, my union has fought tirelessly for protections against this. I know for a fact that things I've written have been used to train AI. I didn't agree to it, and I didn't see a dime from it. That's theft.

"But AI is the future...either embrace it or get left behind."

I did 31 shows at the Magic Castle this month. I see more magic than any sane human should. I'm lucky to be surrounded by some of the most talented and successful magicians in the world. They can't stand this stuff. I discussed this just this week with a recent recipient of the Magic Castle Stage Magician of the Year award. He works constantly in venues all over the world. His act is one of the most creative shows I've ever seen, from effects to music to scripting. He doesn't go near AI.

If you don't enjoy the process of creating, that's okay. It's not for everyone, but relying on a few prompts to design your routines, churn out your scripts and music and marketing materials...that's not creativity. That's painting by numbers and expecting to be called an artist.

I think we should all understand AI from it's core. I was on google email with a gal that owns a record company specializing in older punk recordings in the Pacific Northwest in the 70's and 80's. She sent me an email and AI sent me an AI generated response to "CLICK" on a subject they could not even know much about at all. I responded to google and told them I don't want to see them writing any more RESPONSES for me!!!!!!! Google is FROM HELL!!!!!
