In the next few days, I'll be posting my review/overview of Christopher Parrish’s latest work: Absurd About Astrology (Deluxe Edition).
But before we talk about zodiac divination or “Poetic Truth”… we begin with a mystery. ![]() You’ll decipher it when you read page 10 of the book. Hélder

Alright, let’s start with the short review:
If your zodiac divinations still sound like math problems or obvious linguistic “fishing,” this book is your antidote. Christopher Parrish doesn’t just sell methods; he delivers a performance philosophy where the secret is merely the pretext for an organic connection with the spectator. The invisible axis here is Information Displacement: the art of gathering information silently—through gems like Astro-PIN or the 3-Sum system—and letting it recede until the final revelation feels like a pure vision, completely disconnected from any logical process. Born from nine years on the road, the material travels from the surrealist aesthetics of Salvador Dalí to the ritualistic magnitude of Original Sacred Madness. At its core, this is the most honest, practical, and artistically ambitious work published on the subject in the past decade. It is essential for anyone who wants their mentalism to be felt as something sacred, rather than merely seen as a technical mystery. ![]() That was just the review. If you’re anything like me and enjoy diving deep into both the mechanics and the soul of the content, grab a drink and join me in the upcoming posts over the next few days. Hope you like it. Hélder

![]() Deep Dive: The Anatomy of the Work For those who want to understand the true density of this work, Parrish proposes a journey that travels from technical "harvesting" to artistic transcendence. Invisible Harvesting The book begins with Zodiac Harvesting, where the author teaches how to gather information long before the topic of "astrology" even surfaces. Parrish critiques "shallow" mentalism that treats a sign as mere data stolen from a piece of paper (a billet); he wants the sign to be a springboard for deep readings. Astro-PIN 2026 This philosophy is first applied in Astro-PIN 2026, a sophisticated synthesis that bridges the technical foundations of Theodore Annemann with the psychological audacity of Peter Turner. By utilizing the "Universal Equation, " the performer can silently harvest birth data, allowing the information to recede until the final revelation feels like a pure vision. In group settings, this becomes completely invisible through the SAMR (Spectator-as-Mind-Reader) dynamic, transforming the secret into a moment of collective intuition. Next: Pythagoras Hélder

Pythagoras
In the Pythagoras system, the calculation is framed as a Forecast Number, functioning as a value-exchange where the participant receives a genuine reading while generating the necessary data collaterally. Parrish is uncompromising in his approach: true power lies in being present and becoming an excellent listener. On page 37, he offers a vital reminder: "Where many magicians and mentalists care about being powerful, the best readers I’ve had the pleasure to meet care about being present." The reading itself is structured logically based on the generated digits: for a two-digit result, the numbers represent the Past and Present, while their sum offers a Future framed as guidance or insights. Alternatively, a four-digit number can be read as a sequence of Past, Present, Obstacle, and Solution. For those new to readings, Parrish offers a vital safety net: since the numbers for the Past and Present segments often remain constant in this equation, the performer can prepare a solid stock reading to build immediate rapport before moving into the more variable parts of the Forecast. This ensures the performer remains confident and empathetic, allowing the "tapestries of poetry" to emerge naturally from the mystical narrative. Next: The Language of The Stars Hélder

The Language of The Stars
The Language of The Stars shifts the focus from mathematical structures to linguistic precision. It introduces "The Code," a verbal system designed to navigate zodiac divinations with such subtlety that the spectator never feels the performer is "fishing". Parrish demonstrates the system’s versatility by adapting it for Over The Phone performances and teaching the concept of Implying Fairness, which uses specific phrasing to make the process appear transparent while secretly narrowing down the target sign. ![]() Next: Audience Polling Hélder

Audience Polling
Here he introduces a social guerrilla method designed to "bank" the zodiac signs of multiple people simultaneously through the use of astrological trivia. The beauty of this approach lies in its delayed impact; by gathering information early in a set, the performer can deliver powerful revelations much later, ensuring they feel completely disconnected from any data-harvesting process. Parrish adapts this concept for intimate settings in Audience Polling (One-On-One) and its Alternative version, providing strategies to harvest a participant's sign silently during a natural conversation. These techniques prioritize social dynamics, allowing the information to "marinate" until the moment of revelation achieves its maximum psychological effect. Part Two: Foundational Scripts & Justifications
The Philosophy of Displacement and Conflict Management The second part focuses on burying the technique through narrative. Parrish introduces the concept of Add Some ****ing Flavor, where the use of Decans provides academic authority to the divination. To handle the inherent unpredictability of live performance, Parrish introduces The Red Dwarf, a strategic fallback that turns a potential miss into a proof of power. This "masterful safety net" relies on the zodiac sign you’ve already harvested in secret; if a high-risk effect fails, revealing that sign provides immediate evidence of your competence. It effectively reframes the error as part of a deeper mystical narrative rather than a technical stumble. I love this one. A significant shift in approach occurs with Skeptic Management, where the author moves away from traditional telepathy in favor of a more grounded model of psychological deduction. A standout tool here is the Heavy Skeptic Script, which cleverly appoints a "judge" from the audience to oversee the integrity of the process. This piece of social engineering is particularly satisfying because it transforms a skeptic's natural combativeness into a trap of their own making, neutralizing their influence while actually heightening the credibility of the effect. There are great tips about skeptics in these pages. The Pseudo-Telepathy bonus focuses on the audacity of reading the mind of a peripheral observer. Interpersonal dynamics are then explored in Compatibility, offering versions for groups and Q&A settings. This section concludes with Contemplate and The Star-Gazer, where physiognomy and body language justify revelations as sensory visions where constellations manifest in the subject's mind. Part Three: Cosmic Mirrors & Reveals
This section explores the intricate mechanics of the climax, transitioning from the hidden strategy of information gathering to the high-stakes moment of the revelation. Strategic Certainty The journey into reveals begins with The Cosmic Word Divination (Chapter 1), a method designed to reveal specific thoughts or keywords while maintaining a strictly astrological narrative. To ensure this success is infallible, Parrish introduces Scorpio’s Tablet (Chapter 2), a robust system of Mechanical Outs (Two-Way and Four-Way). The highlight here is "The Killing Question," a strategic tool used to strip away any remaining doubt, leaving the participant with the memory of a direct and flawless hit. Physical and Elemental Justifications In The Hand Knows All (Chapter 3), the performance takes a physical turn. By incorporating the Psychic Hand gambit and Elemental outs (two and four-way versions), Parrish teaches how to use palmistry as a natural justification for the information received, allowing the performer to blend cold reading with technical reveals seamlessly. For moments that require raw power over long narratives, Too Hot To Handle! (Chapter 4) offers a visceral alternative. It focuses on punchy, spontaneous revelations that feel "hot" and immediate, providing a necessary change of pace in a set. Hélder

Engines and Synchronicity
The 3-Sum System (Chapter 5) serves as a dual-purpose engine, with dedicated versions for Q&A sets and General Readings. It allows the performer to provide immediate value while secretly banking birth data. This is followed by A Perfect Connection (Chapter 6), which explores the theme of synchronous reveal—making the hit feel like a shared, cosmic moment—and Constellation Casting (Chapter 7), a visual method of "reading" the stars through physical items, turning the divination into a tangible ritual. The Evolution of the Medium In The Missing Piece (Chapter 8), Parrish explores the refinement of physical tools. He moves from purely propless versions to the highly technical Billet Version 2.0, which focuses on "economy of motion" to make the handling undetectable even under scrutiny. This technical mastery is followed by the Radiant Ritual (Bonus Chapter), a powerhouse of propless mentalism. It features a "Sneak Thief" style sequence—identifying participants and their signs without any props—and the poetic Moon Beam divination. Hélder

The Grand Finale
Part Three reaches its peak with Dalí & The Meridian Reveal (Chapter 9). By weaving the surrealist aesthetics of Salvador Dalí into the mechanics of the climax, Parrish ensures the performance ends not just with a "trick," but with a moment of high-art ceremony. It is designed as a lasting "parting shot" to leave the audience in a state of genuine wonder. ![]() Next: Part Four: Pre-Order Bonuses Hélder

Part Four: Pre-Order Bonuses
The Zenith of the Ritual This final section marks the true rarity of the work, as Part Four is exclusive to the Deluxe Edition, limited to only 50 copies worldwide. Here, Parrish moves beyond mere methods and into the realm of the performer’s soul. Original Sacred Madness The visceral heart of this final section is Original Sacred Madness, a deep exploration of Parrish’s most profound inspirations. By revisiting the history of the Placement Force and Memory Divinations, the author teaches how to transform a secret into a moment of transcendent psychological magic. It is here that the performance is elevated to a sacred experience, focusing on the ritualistic magnitude of the interaction rather than the technicality of the "hit". Desmic Astrology At the center of this mastery is Desmic Astrology (derived from the Greek desmos, meaning a chain or bond). In this section, Parrish explicitly nods to the influence of Phedon Bilek, creating a fluid linguistic web where the divination is woven directly into a natural, organic conversation. This isn't a rigid script; it is a verbal dance where the information is harvested so subtly that the spectator remains entirely unaware of any underlying method. The revelation, such as the Amphitrite sequence, feels like a genuine byproduct of the interaction, marking the final stage of the performer's mastery over the material. Next: Who Is This Work For? and The Final Verdict. And that will be the end of my overview. Hélder

Thank you, Helder, for your detailed review. I couldn't wait for the last part so I ordered the deluxe edition; I hope your conclusion isn't to not get this.
Also, the website says only 10 of the 50 deluxe editions are left, but I seemed to be able to order a lot more than what was advertised (just seeing if I was prevented from ordering more stock than indicated). Hopefully that's just a glitch and not intended to create FOMO, which I obviously fell for. |

Who Is This Work For?
This book is for the performer seeking a complete system, tested for nine years in the "trenches" of real-world performance. It is for those who value empathy and storytelling, preferring the aesthetic beauty of routines like Dalí over mere logical puzzles. However, if you are looking for "quick bar tricks" where subtlety is lost in the noise, or if you have an aversion to psychological work and prefer electronic gadgets, this book is not for you. Here, the focus is strictly on your mind and your voice. The Final Verdict It is rare to find a work that balances technical rigor with such a strong artistic vision so well. Christopher Parrish has written the modern reference for anyone looking to elevate sign divination to a truly professional, sacred, and memorable level. If you want your audience to feel they have experienced something genuine, this investment justifies every page. This concludes my 'deep dive' into Absurd About Astrology. A huge thank you to everyone who followed the daily posts and showed interest in this analysis. I hope you enjoyed this more detailed format and that the overview was helpful in understanding the density and value of this book. Until next time. Hélder ![]()

I haven't read this book, but I've got two of Chris's other releases that he co-authored with Daniel Sutton.
Additionally, I've had numerous deep conversations with Chris about readings, mentalism and what it means to deliver a quality over quantity experience to the clients. I have every bit of faith that this book delivers. Chris is a real worker who cares deeply about the quality of his readings, so the material in these pages isn't theory or conjecture. It's the real life working experience of a guy who has skin in the game. Definitely looking forward to reading this. |
