I’m looking for a method for OOTW that does not require the packets to be switched halfway through.
I used to do this in an OOTW of my own called Out Of This Symbol, but it was so long ago, I can no longer remember how it worked. A fellow magician was kind enough to give me a copy of his lecture notes that detailed how he did that, but those notes appear to have gone missing after my move to the USA 20 years ago. All that this magician can tell me now is that his version is derived from a Paul Harris routine (but I don't think Galaxy is what I'm looking for). So, here’s my question: do you know a version of OOTW that does not require the mid-routine packet switch? If so, can you point me in the right direction? |

This is not a full deck OOTW presentation, though I have used it with multiple spectators.

As far as I know, GALAXY by Paul Harris was the first handling of OOTW that got rid of that switch in the middle. There are other variations that have been published that build on his approach.
One is Out Of This Blah Blah Blah, by Jon Armstrong I think. Another is Separation Anxiety by Bruce Bernstein. Also if you perform OOTW with two spectators, you have more options. |

Theres a nice two person version taught in Afterglow by John Graham which uses a full deck, the spectators can give the cards a mix and do all the dealing with no switching half way through.

Would Patrick Redford’s SMALL WORLD be of interest? It is a routine that builds up in phases.

I do like the no-switch handling, but this is ringing no bells in terms of the method I used 25 years ago. Still it's worth thinking about to see I could use this method for my own routine. |

Thank you, Mark.
After the shuffle there is usually a few cards out of place, so you have to take out those that are, usually it's just 3 to 5 cards. Then you're good to go. |

Thanks to everyone who responded.
It seems as though Galaxy by Paul Harris was what I used for my routine after all. |
