Hi. Could anyone recommend a chop cup routine that is not an “is it in my hand or the pocket “ sort of presentation? I’d like to avoid presentations where the spectator is guessing wrong (I suppose I could make it so the magician seems to guess the location of the ball wrong, but I’m looking for something more creative).

I’m sure there are many excellent alternatives, but one thing I do with routines like this where I don’t want to have a spectator “lose” is to sort of answer the questions for them. “Many people think it’s in my pocket but of course it’s already under the cup” that sort of thing.

Years ago I did show with Chop Cup "interlude" running gag.
A large spider appeared the table that I nudge to the side and covered with a drinking cup.
It later reappears on piece of apparatus - check the cup - gone.
Slide it back into the cup and set aside.
Spider appears somewhere else - cover with bundled silk while continuing routine.
Found under the 'empty' cup, and so on.

Magic never mentioned, just weird events ...

All you need is a reason for the ball to travel between the table and the pocket. For example, it's like getting rid of a bad penny, or the guest who never leaves.
