We're about a block outside of the level 3 evacuation zone but so far we're okay.
I'm more worried about the lunatics around us who are panicking and speeding around acting a dang fool.

I was just watching a live feed of this. Being in Los Angeles and having watched the flames creep over the hill during the Palisades fires, I definitely feel for you! And though I’m originally from the Seattle area I still think of anywhere in Washington as home, so I’m thinking of you all up there. Stay safe and I hope things calm down soon.

My location is currently in a level 1 get ready status so we have everything packed just in case and a plan for where to meet.

Hoping you stay out of the path of destruction, critter. I have packed for wildfire evac twice in my life. Didn’t have to go either time. It certainly gives one pause if they don’t have to go… much more to those who do.

My daughter owns a duplex one block from the fires. As of right now I think it's been saved

Level 2 now. I have been evacuated by a fire once before but I was 20 then.

I've got pics of it taking out trees on the hills too and through sagebrush. We live more on the outskirts by the farmland.

Right now "unhealthy for sensitive groups." My daughter has some health stuff so we have to keep an eye on her.

So far only one family in our circle has lost their home & they are able to rebuild.
Sounds like there's finally some containment happening though the weather is supposed to get hot & windy tomorrow through the weekend so fingers crossed.

It's hard to fathom that the guy who set these fires killed his dad over an argument about doing the dishes and was not in prison. This was preventable. At least in the case of stopping that person.

I could be wrong but it's my understanding that he's suspected in one of the fires. There were multiple fires in at least three separate parts of the county.
So while he needs to be held accountable for what he allegedly did, it would be unreasonable to scapegoat him for the others if he's not involved. The fact is our area is highly flammable on a good day. Unless there's a lot of rain, which isn't as common here as the other side of the mountains. Our forests are almost entirely Ponderosa pine. It's in our parks, neighborhoods, everywhere. Pine trees might as well bleed lighter fluid and Ponderosas have probably the most volatile sap of the pines. The needles are one of the easiest things to light, their resin impregnated wood burls are one of the most prized natural fire starters by outdoorsmen. The needles fall, deteriorate into the ground, now our dirt burns. In fact, even after they put these fires out there is still the possibility of an undetected underground fire that could re-ignite the whole shebang. This is why we need to respect these woods and follow burn bans and learn fire safety. It's a civic responsibility. So you combine our normal sketchy conditions with high winds and a statewide drought and it's a ticking time bomb. So what I'm saying is that while he's likely responsible for a lot of damage and absolutely should be brought to justice for this malicious act and certainly shouldn't have been out and posing a danger anyway, he might not be the only one. And some could have been a freak accident or negligence from people who didn't take fire safety seriously. It's a good case for putting outdoor education back in schools.
