Approximately five years ago some of you were discussing Cubism by Haim Goldenberg and the gimmick versus the non gimmick version of the effect. The team at Henry Harrius Presents are going to be releasing the latest version of Cubism called Cubism Pro which now includes the gimmicks that you require to perform the effect.
I also understand from Aaron Hsing at Henry Harrius Presents that they have significantly upgraded the design and manufacturing of the gimmicks meaning that they have created a fully gimmicked version with a custom designed plate specifically for the effect. This therefore means that the audience member can freely mix up the cubes and you can also purchase extra plates allowing you to create additional number combinations. There is also no challenging memory work and sleight of hand allowing you to focus entirely on the presentation of the effect. Would any of you purchase it and perform it now that it is going to be available? |

I picked up this new version at Magic Live and it is indeed excellent!

I love this routine. I would love a version whereby all 4 cubes match at the end rather than the single sided number reveal.
I guess x2 Venom sets could achieve this. |

David that would rather difficult to get them all to match if the goal of Cubism is to get all the sides to combine to match a number, then the matching wouldn’t make sense.
Anyhow, the idea of getting the spectators to mix the cubes themselves takes this up a notch! |

Is it always the same in result 43 seconds or something like that or can you do a couple of different reveals for the time?

I would like to hear about that as well. I assume using Venom cube technology you need to force a time which is easier but less slightly impressive than the original version. I guess you could use forcing dice or something like that.

It’s not clear to me how the time is arrived at. The spec tells you when to stop based on a time that was forced on them possibly via an app or something?
So it would appear that the cubes are genuinely mixed and then some Venom technology would allow you to reveal the time. I wish they showed a full performance. Failing on the solve but then showing you solved the correct time on 1 side of each cube seems a bit underwhelming for a closer. But obviously not if pros like Asi Wind are using it that way. So I presume it must be a fantastic effect but the trailer leaves me less than enthusiastic about it. |

It’s not quite a number force. The spectator is timing you as you attempt to solve all four cubes. They count out loud. Eventually the performer stops the spectator saying he’s solved them all. He asks how long it took him to”43 seconds” and you reveal 43 in the cube.

And now having watched the second video, Asi explains how he does it with a number “not known” to the performer and with “any” number. It’s fantastic. It’s the version I’ll do.
So definitely watch the second video before you start making it. I’ll have a full review on the blog once I receive my set and try it out. Madison |

For those of you who own the Cubism Pro from Magic Live and also have the Venom Cube, can the Cubism Pro gimmick be recreated using two Venom Cubes? Or is the Cubism Pro gimmick completely different from the Venom Cube?

I'm sure you could make it from Venom Pro sets, because I've seen a video performance of the original and clearly that's basically what he's using. And I remember reading online somewhere that someone else did exactly that, they used two Venom Pros to make a Cubism. But from what I can tell, and because it makes sense, the Cubism Pro 2 gimmicks will be thinner and more form fitting because they only need to show themselves from one side. So buying the Cubism Pro gimmicks will be much better if you want to use it for Cubism Pro. Only speculating, but again I can compare the original footage to the trailer footage and it's WAY more deceptive with the new version.

For those who have done this routine, how many audiences will this play for? Is it possible to see the numbers on the cubes for a larger stage show?

The gimmicks as far as I can tell are recessed a little so they fit snug onto the cube, I always found with the venom cube the plates looked a little odd

The ad is specific that you can customize the time to any time you want. They give you enough stickers to make any custom time that you want.

You get extra stickers so you could change it, but you wouldn't change back and forth all the time because you'd be peeling off stickers and putting on new ones every time you wanted a different result. Again, this is all speculation but understanding what's going on, I can't see how you could have more than one time prepared unless they provide more than the necessary amount of gimmicks for one time. |

You can have different amount of seconds shown using Asi Winds version, his solution is brilliant
