Hi everyone,

I wanted to share something a little different that I have been working on.

My TEDx talk, 'Before Certainty, There Was Wonder' was recently released, and I thought some of you here might find it interesting.

As magicians, we spend a lot of time thinking about wonder, what creates it, what happens when someone experiences something they cannot immediately explain, and how a moment of uncertainty can open up a different way of seeing things.

For the talk, I tried to take some of the thoughts I have developed through magic and connect them with my other work in philosophy and education. I am particularly interested in wonder not simply as a feeling produced by a magical experience, but as something that can create the conditions for curiosity, reflection, and learning.

The talk is essentially an attempt to explore what happens when we allow ourselves to stay with the question for a little longer, rather than rushing towards an answer.

It was my first time doing anything quite like a TEDx talk, so I am still finding my feet with this kind of format, although I am happy with how it turned out, and I thought I would share it with you.

I would be genuinely interested to hear what you think, especially from other magicians. I am sure many of you have your own thoughts about wonder and how it relates to your own work, and I would love to hear about it.

Thanks for watching if you do! I hope you get something out of it, and happy to hear any thoughts or feedback.

Cheers,
Pedro Dias
