I got Born To Perform when I started. I also have Crash Course and I think both are good starting point depending what you are trying to accomplish.

CC1 and Born to perform were the first DVD's I purchased when I started doing card magic. I think CC1 is great for a beginner and Brad Christian is a very solid teacher. However, if you are not a beginner (know several effects, basic sleights, etc) then get something else.

So many copies of CC1 have been sold that you can usually pick up a copy of ebay pretty inexpensively.
