One other thing that I forgot to mention in their original write up: When they finally have a pile they will use, as they pick it up, tell them to shuffle the pile so even they won't know what cards they have. It kind of doesn't make sense, but you don't want to be seen calling out cards in the exact order they are in.

Of course, I have done them in the exact order, but how I do it then is have them hold the pile facing them and just stare at the face card of the pile. Now I can call them in that order as they are just looking at one card at a time.

OK, although it has taken me 10 years to make a comment and 3.5 years for a thread resurrection, I have been doing Sherlock for a long time and love it. I couldn't find a thread dedicated to Sherlock, so I thought I would have a crack here, given this very post by the venerable @Kjellstrom is where I first became aware of Sherlock many years ago. Thank you!

If you, or anyone else, would like to exchange ideas on this, I am open. I have recently been playing with slightly different methods and effects to completely eliminate the one very small issue that can pop up - the card being inadvertently replaced into a position that maintains its correct order/sequence. It doesn't happen a lot, but when it does, out comes Mnemonicosis or an Invisible Deck.

I have a few other options if anyone is interested.
